Hmmmm. I think people who's screen name is Eleanora1 should pay a higher tax rate than I do. Why? No reason. Just 'cause.

I think investment bankers have a place in a free society, just like firemen.

I think someone running for office based on his brilliance regarding the constitution should release his college transcripts.

I think we need a country where almost 50% of the population who contribute nothing should contribute their fair share.

I think if you want to live in a country that treats everyone "fairly" you should move to the USSR. Oopsie, that didn't work out so well, did it. Guess every thing was great until they ran out of other people's money.

That's why I am a Republican. Because I DO think.

I'm not a greedy little man like he is. I understand that taxes are the price you pay for a civilized society. What a pity he wants our highest office yet sees no problem that so many Americans pay a lower tax rate than he does!

Oh no it isn't. He only got to make it because of things like infrastructure and the education of workers that others helped pay for. Republicans are complete liars when they imply otherwise.

I want really rich people to pay their fair share. As a Republican you want me to pay more so that Romney can pay less. Republicans have no problem with a handful of people earning so much money they can't even spend it. Worse with arguing that local teacher should pay more to make up the difference.

You guys are the ones who got us into two costly wars and then handed tax cuts to the really greedy. Romney pays a lower tax rate because he has enough money to bribe Republican pols into going along with that.

Tax rates should go up on the Romneys of the world. They serve no purpose at all other than to steal money from most workers and spend it on dancing horses.
How low are Dems willing to go? Romney's a felon. Romney's a tax cheat. Romney's a murderer. Romney bribes public officials.

Found a site that calculates total return. If you were an employee at Staples and bought stock through the employee purchase plan when they went public at $0.69 a share, and you only bought $100 worth, today that $100 would be worth $2000. Again...nobody calculates these sorts of things when they do their comparisons.

Quote:
"The best way to bring jobs and prosperity back to this country is to end our dependence on carbon-based fuels, especially foreign oil, and simultaneously protect the earth we leave to our children. We must lead a new green revolution, using American ingenuity to manufacture solar, wind and other alternative energy products on our shores with American workers, creating millions of green jobs. We reject the conservative alternative, which would shackle us to a dangerous reliance on carbon-based fuels that puts our national security, our health and the very survival of the planet at risk. Progressive energy policies honor our sacred obligation to steward the earth wisely."
The entire site is one big propaganda piece.

It's no surprise that the writer of the linked piece hates Wal-Mart, Staples, and all such "super-stores."

Here is the address of Campaign for America's Futre:

Campaign for America's Future
1825 K Street NW, Suite 400
Washington DC

It's owned by Ian Mishalove, a typical leftist nut-job environmentalist activist.
Bio:

I'm currently the Director for Online Communications at the Campaign for America’s Future, where I've been since July 2004. Prior to CAF, I worked for seven years at the National Wildlife Federation, first as their webmaster and then as their technical director for activist development. I received an M.E.S from Yale’s School of Forestry and Environmental Studies and a BA from Princeton University -- and in both places focused research on how to empower progressive social movement networks -- esp. through online technology. Outside of computers and activism, I co-own and help to run Flow Yoga Center with my beautiful wife Debra, play the bass, enjoy mes animeaux -- Carmen, Maggie and Maxie -- and try to spend as much time as possible playing outdoors.
The writer of the linked article wants more of what we have had under Obama, including, of course, higher taxes "at the top." Great way to create more jobs, isn't it? That strategy has never worked, and it isn't going to work this time either!

But rather than talk about jobs purported to have been lost because of staples, we should be focused on the jobs lost under the current president, Barack Obama.

Here are some nasty facts:

"Compared with that of each president since 1945, Obama ranks dead last in job creation, losing 316,000 jobs." This according to research analyzing Bureau of Labor Statistics data — Veronique de Rugy, senior fellow at the Mercatus Center and author of the new research.

Real unemployment is estimated at around 14%. Millions of Americans are out of work.

Just because you disagree with the informatiion, doesn't mean it's incorrect. It just means you disagrree.
I quote Glenn Beck, sometimes. I guess that would make me a right winger. I quote Huff PO sometimes. I guess I'm a left winger.
The truth is what it is. They made a lean, mean version of office supplies and support and wiped out the little guys. Then claimed that was "job creation."
That's like destroying a nation and calling it creating peace.

Yes, I want the wealthy to pay more. They take more from society. It costs a lot more to protect Willard's 12 mil house than it does my far more modest abode. Willard's welcome to spend his money on a dancing horse. But if he's going to argue my taxes should subsidize his horsey then I get a say in the matter.

Poor picked on Mitt. He's running for president and the peons dare express their thoughts about his candidacy!

That's your opinion. That's why I don't vote Republican. Because they believe that.

The ignorance continues. There is a HUGE difference between marginal, and effective tax rates.. Maybe you should educate yourself on them prior to embarassing yourself again.
Or maybe Mitt should stop whining about paying taxes like me before he decides to seek my vote.

You clearly are greedy by demanding other people give up money that belongs to them, so you can establish a standard you set.
Are public highways simply too hard a Republican concept to grasp? Is infractruture too many syllables for you?

Quote:
Oh bull crap.. infrastructure exists because people PAY for it.. its not a gift to the rich, and its a complete lie to believe otherwise. Where the hell do you think the land to build it, and the money to develop it comes from? News flash, roads exist because of DEMAND for them, not the other way around. I'd be compeltely embarassed to not know that, but here ya are...
People who pay more in taxes than Willard does, thus allowing him to earn his ridiculous pile of money. Oh and government. The kind that Willard and his cronies don't believe in even as they reap the profits from such investment.

Quote:
Are you even reading what other people are keying, before you even respond. I think EVERYONE pays far too much. See thats the difference between you and I.. I dont stand here whining because other people are paying their fair share, YOU ARE. I never ONCE argued people like teachers should pay more, stop lying..
No you don't. Republican don't believe that. Republicans believe that some people (people who get paid in capital gains) are very special people. They should pay a lower rate than everyone else. Do you even understand the stances of the party you support?

Quote:
Bull crap.. tax cuts INCREASED revenues, so if you care so much about federal revenues, you'd be asking for more, rather than standing here whining that others arent paying enough.
That's why we have a such a huge deficit and a lousy economy. Because the Bush tax cuts helped everyone. Yeah.

Trickle down went out with Reagan. Let it go.
Quote:

But then you arent greedy, you only want to steal money that isnt yours..
Right. Because asking people who make more money than I do and use more public resources than I do is greedy. Oh yeah.

Quote:
Ahh the hate.. people have money so they shouldnt spend it how they want, greedy people like you are better to determine what they should do with it.
Aw. Poor little picked on rich people. However shall they survive the hatred of people like me! Romney is a greedy creep who wants a functional society and wants to pass the cost on to me. How dare the common people like me complain about that!

Quote:
Spare me the envious bull crap. If people like you ran around demanding for your tax rates to be where they should be, i.e. the 15% ball park, rather than spending your time whining and demanding the government steal money that doesnt belong to them, maybe you wouldnt be paying more.. THATS YOUR FAULT, not Romneys
Some of us aren't selfish swine. Some of us think that if you want a good society you have to pay for it. Again that's why I don't vote Republican. Donald Trump is not my role model.

The wealthy do pay more, and I am all for EQUAL tax rates which would gauntness that the rich pay more. We should all pay the same PERCENT which means the rich pay more and the poor pay less.

Really? Romney takes more from society than a person that is unemployed and benefiting from all kinds of (quite possibly well deserved) government assistance? It doesn't cost one dime more to provide police or fire protection to Romney's home than it does for yours, and in fact I'd argue it costs less because he probably lives in an incredibly low crime area as compared to most of this country, and he probably has his own security and advance warning systems installed for crime and fires. In addition the money he spends in the community and on his frivolousness horses puts money in the pockets of saddle makers, stable boys, and people that supply all kinds of goods and services to those involved in the hobby.

Please provide proof that he wants your taxes to subsidize his horse hobby.

I dunno.

Maybe we could accuse Obama of being a Kenyan. Maybe we could insult Kerry's war record. Maybe we could steal an election by appointing our brother head of the vote count in Florida and allowing the supreme court justices to vote twice. Maybe we could try to impeach a president because he had an extramarital affair.

Maybe we could design a society in which the nominee pays a lower tax rate than many middle class Americans and his heiress wife tells us to mind our own business when asked for more details.

Nah.

Oh god this explains so much about Republican thinking.

You realize that Romney lives in a low crime area BECAUSE HE GETS MORE POLICE PROTECTION? Or that it costs more to protect his all stuff and his land than it does to protect my little home? That without such protection people would steal his stuff?

Nah. You'll never understand that fact.
