Biden is most likely looking for an "out" for the upcoming debate. Ryan will make him look like the clown he is. The MSM won't even be able to save old Joe.
That is kinda how I picture the Obama/Romney debates going.... one is very intelligent and well spoken, the other is in trouble.
Social security and medicare needs to be fixed. Problem is nobody cares. Just wait till we hit the fiscal cliff in January and you folks who scream how so and so wants to kill old people won't know what to do. It is time to pay for all the reckless spending that has gone on for the last thirty years. It's probably too late anyway. The money tree has wilted in the drought like the corn crops have this year. The screamers are too uneducated to understand what is going on. At least Ryan does.

You're right. Nobody cares. What we need is a leader who quits saying what people want to hear and starts saying what they need to hear. A real leader doesn't pander, divide or fear monger. A real leader explains the problems, proposes a solution and then engages people in caring that the problem is resolved. When's the last time we had a real leader in this country? Whoever steps up to truly lead will get my vote.
But you wondering how the Federal spending cuts would result in the firing of local fire, police and teachers. The federal collects money through taxes, but then redistributes that money to the states, often not a fair balance as this article points out. Now, if the federal cuts spending, inevitably it cuts its money transferred to the states, which will result in the loss of jobs.
I don't really have the time to do your research for you because I'm on the way out for a while, but here:

"All three levels of government – federal, state, and local - contribute to education funding. States typically provide a little less than half of all elementary and secondary education funding. Local governments generally contribute about 44 percent of the total, and the federal government contributes about 10 percent of all direct expenditures."
"In some states the federal share of total elementary and secondary education spending is less than 5 percent of the total, while in other states it is higher than 16 percent."
None of that seems "considerable" as you claimed it to be...even worst case where it is 16%, that is for what, one or two out of 50 states?

Our asinine foreign policy of trying to be the world's police force needs to be fixed too. Romney has shown no intention of doing so, will Ryan?

Ryan wants to change Medicare into a voucher system and that is not going to fly with most Americans.
Spending wastefully is an entirely different matter.
Needless to say, cuts in government spending will result in loss of jobs. There is no way of getting around that. If you advocate that the government balance its budgets by cutting spending, you are asking it to increase the unemployment rate. It's simple economics. Voters have to decide: do you want reduce the debt (that is, government cuts, higher unemployment rate) or do you want lower unemployment rate. It's one OR the other. You can't have both: reduce the debt AND lower unemployment rate.
Great, so you want short term "solutions" that worsen the long term outlook...no thanks.
Pretty cynical view - "easy sell" - which seems to define the progressive view of the world. People are tired of being 'sold' a bill of goods. The disappointment of the reality of the "Hope and Change" sell, is pretty bitter in most peoples' mouths.
It already has. Romney introduced Ryan as the "next president" of the United Stated states, then had to correct himself after Ryan reached the speakers stand.
Let the fun begin,Ryan & Romney are the gifts that just keep giving
Honestly it doesnt matter. People are going to hate Ryan but I don't think he'll become as hated as Palin since he does come off as less of a complete moron. VP picks ultimately don't matter much unless the person is perceived as incompetent to take the presidency, Bush picked Dick Cheney, perhaps the most unlikeable douche he could pick but nonetheless got elected (kinda)
