Those people in Egypt were attempting to maybe save their lives by making that statement. They weren't apologizing. They didn't come out against the first amendment. They didn't have clearance from the President. These are career government servants who aren't partisan attempting to control a potentially deadly situation.

Instead of dealing with reality, Mitt Romney comes out while the tragedy in Libya and Egypt was ongoing and attacks the President.

I don't know how anyone can support Romney after that display of dishonesty, craven opportunism ,and rank stupidity, but conservatives will find a way to do it.

This. Not only that but the statement happened 6 hours before there was a protest or violence--and it happened at the Cairo embassy where no one was killed. Just what would have happened there if they'd come out with a statement saying "tough crap--who cares?"

So what does Romney do? Rush and Laura Ingraham give him a tongue lashing the day before about not being tough enough, so he's running around with his tail between his legs. The Romney camp hears that there have been protests in the middle east, see the earlier statement, and jump all over it (I'm going to be a tough guy!) with absolutely NO IDEA what's happened there--they didn't know if people had been killed, etc, or any of the circumstances, and knowing that the statement was made by an embassy aide long before the protests started--an aide that was trying to calm down the situation and keep the families (including children) who live in the embassy compound alive. At nearly the same time, the President releases a statement with ALL THE INFORMATION and a condemnation of the attacks--he came to us with the facts vs. shooting from the hip without knowing squat.

What Romney did was inexcusable--at first he was trying to politically capitalize on a sensitive international situation where he knew almost nothing to try to prove to his own party leaders that he's not a dumb a**. Now that we know that four Americans died, it becomes a whole lot worse. He'll do anything or say anything to try to win. The funniest part--Rush and Ingraham LOVE him now...

give him enough time and he just makes himself look like a fool... reminds me of his trip to Europe.
Reminds me of Obama's trip to Europe pre-elections, and then especially post-election. Who looked like a fool then?

He did his apology tour bowing to kings and su*king up to them, apologizing for America's arrogance, promising a gentler, humbled America.

Yep. You could change the name in your post to Obama and it would fit perfectly!

Good definitions of 'clueless'.

Obama is afraid to speak up for America.

Remember the beer summit? He had no trouble jumping the gun then, before he had ANY facts, getting involved in a local matter that wasn't even his business.

Security of our people abroad IS our business, and that's where he should show some leadership and courage.

As details are coming out about the embassy attacks, it appears they knew something was afoot. How come nobody did anything to prevent it?

I have a feeling, as more details come out, this is going to end up looking really bad for Obama and his administration. I suspect that is why he is going on another "attack Romney" tour.

And the media also realize this and are getting rabid and desperate and now conspiring to work together to make Romney look bad.

I suspect he isn't talking about that because he would have done essentially the same thing.
It was the anniversary of 9/11. Romney would have been more likely to have beefed up security at embassies around the world. He would have also informed the Egyptians that there would be dire consequences if Egypt's government didn't take steps to protect the American Embassy after it became clear that mobs were moving in it's direction.

Are you serious with this? You think pencil pushers at American Embassies are issuing official statements on the behalf of the American Government??!!

Embassies are the State Department. They do not issue official statements without the Secretary of State's or the President's say so and if they did it would look exponentially worse for this administration.
