What jt800 wants and I want too is a single person who can take the office of President and fix everything overnight. There is no excuse for Obama not of been able to do it all over a single term. If he were a Republican he would of fixed all the problems the last Republican created and we would be back to being a powerful growing country.

Reagan turned around an economy in two years that was in many ways worse than ours today.

Double-digit inflation and unemployment.

Let's backtrack, for a minute. Clinton leaves office with a SURPLUS
A BUDGET surplus not a DEBT surplus. Federal Debt still rose under Clinton showing that a budget surplus is only a projection on paper. Congress still spent more than it took in hence the DEBT increase.

and leaves the economy booming
When Clinton left office we were in a mini-recession form the crash of the Dot.Com Bubble.....did you conveniently forget that?

Bush gets in, and leaves us in a recession that is similar to the Great Depression.
Under Bush there was full employment, the stock market hit records, in '06 and '07 there were record federal revenues pouring in.

The financial crash was due to Democrats not heeding Bush's 12 warnings to Congress that Freddie and Fannie were a ticking time bomb.

So, to expect the economy to quickly recover is like expecting pigs to fly- not going to happen.
See above about how Reagan did it.

What Obama has done is he started making changes from the bottom up- ensuring the 99%ers have access to the resources that they need to begin to move up, as opposed to continually giving all of the power to the large corporations. With more young people having access to health care, (now a young person can stay on their family's health insurance plan until age 26), affordable education, birth control, etc.,
Too bad that the 99% now has less income, health care plan prices have skyrocketed, food, gas, and everything has gone sky high.

Affordable education? Education costs have risen drastically and there's no change at all in birth control (??).

and if you read the facts you will see that it does not add ANY additional cost to taxpayers.
Maybe YOU need to read it...that was a joke I hope.

see what defunding vital programs such as Planned Parenthood, Medicare, and Medicaid really means, and that is the elimination of our safety nets.

Who's defunding those things? Not Romney!!

The median income of American households dropped to its lowest level since 1995 last year, extending its decline during President Barack Obama’s tenure and highlighting the depth of the damage to the middle class inflicted by the recession and weak recovery.

According to annual data from the Census Bureau, median income adjusted for inflation – a closely watched measure of the financial health of average Americans – fell to $50,054 in 2011, or 1.5 per cent below its 2010 level and 4.1 per cent below its score when Mr Obama took office in 2009.

In turn, the lower class is growing!

WASHINGTON (CBS WASHINGTON) – In the course of Obama’s presidency, people saying they are in the “lower classes” have risen from one-quarter to one-third of the adult population.

According to the Pew Research Center, Americans who say they are in the lower-middle or lower-class has risen from 25 percent to 32 percent in the past four years, in the national survey of 2,508 adults.

Not only has the lower class grown, but its demographic profile also has shifted. People younger than 30 are disproportionately swelling the ranks of the self-defined lower classes. The shares of Hispanics and whites who place themselves in the lower class also are growing.

Good JOB Barak!!! That's "fighting for the middle class" alright!!!
All part of his plan to destroy the middle class and give campaign lip service

HC was passed using reconciliation, which by Senate rules, can't be filibustered. Are you suggesting all bills should be passed by reconciliation to prevent GOP filibusters?

You are right, the Democrats haven't done enough to make gay marriage legal on a federal level, that is the things they should of pushed through Congress during those first two years when they had more power over the Republicans.

As for the recession comment, I just wanted clarity because jt800 was calling this a recession, which is technically false.

Conservative policies started by Ronald Reagan in 1980s are responsible for median income going so low. It takes some time to take place.
