Based on the current administration, would you let your kid go to war if the middle east truly erupts, Afghanistan and Iraq notwithstanding? If they were drafted? If Israel and Iran go to war?
I have a son currently serving, he knew what he signed up for. My daughter would not be drafted. My other sons are too old. I would agree to a draft, but, zip on deferment aside from obvious medical issues, and even those would still get drafted, to do whatever skills they could in support roles. No escapes for rich kids. No college deferrals, or religious deferments, and definitely send all those "Dreamers". Fine, get citizenship, after five years of military service.
