Pundits have been preaching that the Independent vote is the key to winning the Presidency. It's been common knowledge for quite some time now.

That's why Obama was forced to run as a "moderate" and fool the American people in 2008.

But the polls are all showing he's losing the Independent vote BADLY....

The NYT/CBS poll shows Obama losing independents to Mitt Romney 44/50

The WaPo/ABC News poll shows Obama losing independents by 11 points, 43/54.

The CNN/ORC poll (.pdf) shows Obama losing independents by a whopping 14 points, 40/54.

And these are all polls that are skewed to favor Democrats using the type of voter turn out in 2008. Even those poling agencies admit that Republicans are more fired-up and more likely to win the turn-out to vote race.

These polls actually badly oversampled Democrats, going above and beyond 2008 numbers, even though changes in how people identify themselves and how people are registered since 2008 have favored Republicans.

I have the feeling that a lot of the media simply wants to put out polls to further their narrative that Romney is losing with the goal of suppressing Republican enthusiasm, thus resulting in less fundraising and volunteering and - if that fails - lower Republican turnout.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist and I'm generally more of a pessimist than an optimist and I usually wouldn't focus so much on the internals of polls, but no Obama lover can tell me with a straight face that Obama will win if he loses independents by 14 points, 11 points, or even 6 points.

I find more people disillusioned with both parties lately. They are not in love with their party anymore but still don't like the other side.

More and more seem to be going for "the lesser of two evils" and that cannot be good for the future of our nation.
Both parties are corrupt to the bone but it seems that laws were put in place to keep those two parties in power.

With any and all due respect, I don't know what those platitudes have to do with the topic of Obama losing Independents????

Amazing how Liberals hide their heads in the sand on topics that look bad for Obama.

If anything, the independents are sliding into the Obama column for election day. Willard Romney's bad behavior, and incriminating words of attack on our seniors, soldiers and others, and his demonstrated lack of knowledge and understanding regarding foreign affairs ... is causing that movement of independents to his side of the contest.
