....except he wont lose. I don't understand what makes any of you think he will other than just staunch denial. There is zero indication that the election is in Romney's favor.

The fact is: Our government is so big it touches all our lives. We wanted it for most of the last 60 years, and any drastic cut in anything is going to create a lot of real pain, as everything has consequences.

It's not just what needs to be cut, it is a matter of how much to cut and where to cut. Use the Defense Dept. for just one example: For over 60 years, our presumed enemy was the Soviet Union, and the military became a behemoth, all geared up for another european war on the plains of the Ukraine, where air superiority, heavy tanks, and massive motorization won the last war.
But in our first wars of the 21st century, all this didn't count for squat. We wasted millions of dollars flying multi-million dollar aircraft around that did nothing except burn money and fuel.

If we quit making those $200 million dollar fighters, thousands of jobs will be lost. But what do we really need? Jobs or over-sophisticated fighters? If we stop producing those fighters, what will all those specialized companies that supply the parts do for a fallback?

For those who own those companies, there is no training available. They either have to change their company mission fast or sink like a rock. Some can't change, so all they can do is close up. Since these guys are the ostensible job creators, and they're now out of work, what is to become of them?

Everyone is all about re-training these days. For a worker at one of those aircraft plants, who has spent years welding titanium, a high skill, where is the training for him? He was at the top scale level of his craft already, but only knows military aircraft. The other guys who weld titanium in civilian applications have kept their jobs, and there is no big need for a high skill all of a sudden.
Who is going to pay for his training, even if he must take a cut in pay in a new position?

Who is going to keep the small town of Jets R Us thriving with no one who lives there has a job anymore? No one, so the local car dealership goes broke from lack of sales. And the owner and his 4 salesmen are now out of a job, too.

And on and on it goes.

It's all very simple to say "Just cut everything" until the realities of those cuts run over a bunch of people and leave them flattened.

This is the stuff of federal government. As long as Congress does nothing, nothing happens. The money just keeps getting spent because all alternatives are going to cost someone their job as a Congress person. And it is not a matter of just one man, the President, just one Agency, or just one House of Congress. We have seen 4 years of vital time squandered over nothing but fluffy social issues that will never be resolved. How much more time does Congress think we have?

After Obama loses will the democrats still push for redistribution and big government?
Obama can't run in 2016, so I see no reason to worry about his losing then.

Banjo, You are right. Times change. That is why we need entrepreneurs to come up with new ideas that we can not even imagine. But we can't have the government pay people to do nothing. Our education system is broken and more money is not the answer. We need school choice for competitiveness. Free enterprise and individualism made our country great and there is no reason it won't continue. But I don't see that happening with Obama and the democrats.

Government has shrunk under the President and the entire US Tax system is based on redistribution.

Dems may give poor some money they need, Repubs may give wealthy some money they don't need. Can you imagine Romney saying he can hardly survive on $7,000 an hour?

The majority of pols in 2 largest parties frequently vote against Constitutional law. Generally this helps wealthy who bought new laws, and they can be Rep or Dem. Without the Constitution being the law of the land, we have no rights, not even a right to continue living. There is no left or right when it comes to corruption & waste. How can there be a middle of both sides (parties) voting against the Constitution?

Want real freedom? Want to prevent economic collapse? Check out garyjohnson2012 dot com/ He cares about the 100% equally. He will be on the ballot in at least 47 states + DC. Thanks & best wishes.

Yes, government spending only increased by over $5T in less than 4 years, not counting another $2-3T in Fed money printing.
