More Americans now commit suicide than are killed in car crashes as miserable economy takes its toll
Previous research has suggested that suicide rates go up during recessions and times of economic crisis.
'Economic problems can impact how people feel about themselves and their futures as well as their relationships with family and friends,' Feijun Luo of CDC’s Division of Violence Prevention told Bloomberg.
I think what we can say here is that government mandated safety standards from air bags, to anti-lock brakes, to stability control, to crash protection systems, to TPMS (all opposed by the GOP) have greatly reduced the number of injuries and fatalities on our highways. Indeed, thousands of Americans owe their lives or their childrens' lives to brave Democrats who pushed for safety under relentless pressure to stop from Republicans and the automobile industry.

Too bad for the Obamatrons that the article actually attributes the higher suicide rate over car fatalities to the horrible economy though.
