He clearly was referring to binders full of resumes from women. But he worded it wrong. Why not focus in on the intent? Obama made many mistakes like that too.
Seems childish to be obsess over this.
Seems the way Americas election preamble is these days, take anything the candidate says and twist it into something never intended.
The repubs not too long ago took something totally out of context that Obama said and milked that for as much as they could, remember the "You didnt build that"
Stress on that word old. Using such an antiquated term and conveying it in an objectifying and dismissive manner is why that meme took off so fast. Anyone under the age of 50 isn't going to hear "Binders of women" and not have it conger an absurd literal mental image.
PACs and political parties don't create memes. They happen almost instantaneously and organically and Dems and "libs" had nothing to do with it. That came straight from Romney's mouth out into the internet.
My old boss (as in I don't work there anymore) is 43....I should have said former boss...I apologize... he is also from Mass.
This quote of Romney's proves my point, not yours. He lied when he said "he went to a number of women's groups and said, can you help us find folks?" The coalition called the Massachusetts Government Appointments Project brought the binders of assumes to Mitt and the other person running for governor long before he even won the election.
That's NOT what the article says.
Quote:
Romney agreed to work with the group, Levin said, and he appointed Kerry Healey, the incoming lieutenant governor, to be the liaison to MassGAP. Several weeks after the election, they presented several hundred applicants to Healey
So... Romney was already working with the women's group to promote advocacy, and after he was elected they provided him with a binder of highly qualified women knowing he was strongly committed to the cause.
Romney did have several women in prominent positions -- such as Beth Myers, as chief of staff, or Healey, as lieutenant governor – and he made an effort to hire more women.
Midway through his four-year term, 42 percent of his 33 new appointments were women, according to a study done by the UMass Center for Women in Politics and Public Policy using some of the data collected by MassGAP.
But over the next two years, women made up only 25 percent of the 64 new appointments Romney made. By the end of his term, the number of women in high-ranking positions was slightly lower than it was before Romney took office.
its a common business term, obama and his window-licking followers are not familure with common business terms.
shocking, eh...
What I want to know is, if Obama dosnt get a binder of resumes to review, how the hell does he decide who to hire? Dos he just randomly hire people out of a phone book?

While, this may not be as big a deal as it's been made to be, well, "binders for Women" sound like something someone from the 1920's would say and it's, simply, unprofessional and he would be called in for at least sensitivity training, if he ever said that in a corporate work setting.
