Mr Ryan needs to quit using God and Christianity as a political tool.

Amen. The Evangelicals have swarmed this thread, but I'm content to let them have it. By tomorrow they will have nothing else.

Romney campaign is going after their base...the ignorant, mouth breathing fundamentalists.

Sure, as long as it's the correct religion being defended...right?
If a politician were to say that, say, Muslims' rights need to be defended, that's not the same, is it?
You're fooling no one.

Same, tired, untrue political attacks.

Mr. Ryan would be smart to know, many evangelicals and protestants, still don't think highly of Catholics.

Seeing as most liberals are people of faith, your post is idiotic. Our issue is with hypocritical conservatives who use religion as a weapon. You people behave nothing like Christians, yet use God's name at every possible opportunity to demean and oppress anything you don't like.

You are the modern day Pharisees that Jesus condemned. No question about it.

I would suggest that there is no such thing as "Judeo-Christian values" ... because Jewish values are somewhat different from Christian values. The large majority of Jews are voting for Obama.

Maybe we need a little more Buddhist values infused into our culture.

I don't have to respect women who go against the church.
Mysogyny should not be part of politics or democracy.

Oh noooooo! Educated and single.....how horrible!!
See, this is why more and more young people are turning away from Catholicism and ridged dogmatic religions. They are more educated, and *gulp* just might want to stay single a while.

Yet, ironically, this thread was originated by pointing put Ryan's desire to do just that..to vote based on religion.

Not according to our friend Matthew: 5:17 Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill.
What did Jesus teach about the Old Testament? | Christian Apologetics and Research Ministry

This entire thread illustrates boldly the reason religion and the subjective idea of ones morality needs to be separate from democracy.

It drives me nuts that Conservative "Christians" always steal Judaism for their own agenda. Most Jews do not align with Conservatives. Abortion is not banned under Judaism, even though it's viewed as a last case scenario, and the overwhelming majority of Jews in the United States support same-sex marriage and gay rights.

So what Judeo values are they supporting?

I would also point out, world wide most Christians are liberal to moderate. Fundamentalism is an American invention. Aside from the huge conservative Catholic population in Italy, almost the entire 1st World's Christian population is far from Conservative.
