And, although the losing republican candidate this time (Rob McKenna) didn't concede until yesterday, apparently he's not going to pull the cry baby routine that Dino Rossi did the last two elections and demand recounts.

"Will the last person to leave Seattle please turn out the lights?"
A coworker of mine remembers those days. Back then Boeing was the only game in town. Today's MUCH different.
Doubtful Seattle will become a ghost town. In fact Amazon just bought up the entire Denny triangle and is developing billions of dollars worth of office space. Just look in the Seattle forum. Half the threads are "NEW TO SEATTLE! WHERE CAN I FIND GOOD SCHOOLS, ETC ETC ETC?"
Housing prices are stabilizing, and in many areas, increasing since last year because the local economy is recovering.
The fact is usually it doesn't matter who is in office. The governor has very little power over the economy, the best he or she can do is boost the locals and broker deals with the locals (in our case a lot of the unions).
