Deseret Morning News | McCain's mom says Mormons to blame for Olympics scandal

Quote:
MEREDITH, N.H. — John McCain's 95-year-old mother, in a swipe at her son's rival Mitt Romney, said Friday that Mormons were to blame for the scandal that rocked the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics.
During an appearance on MSNBC, Roberta McCain laid out why her son, John, deserves to win the Republican presidential nomination. But in evaluating McCain's primary rivals, she criticized Romney's Mormon faith and his time in Salt Lake City.

"As far as the Salt Lake City thing, he's a Mormon and the Mormons of Salt Lake City had caused that scandal. And to clean that up, again, it's not a subject," Roberta McCain said.

John McCain quickly stepped in: "The views of my mothers are not necessarily the views of mine."

I was going to say the same thing--- at 95, she can even claim OJ is innocent or Elvis is alive...

Unanimous, I think: a break for agedness isn't a bad thing to give.

She does deserve a pass based on her age, IMHO.

I think the only reason that McCain took her out on the campaign was to show that if she is Lucid at 95 y/o... him being 70+ isn't so much of an issue.

McCain's that desperate?...I now expect him to include Britney Spears or Paris Hilton in his entourage...Or solicit an endorsement from John Kerry's beer drinking wife...this is insane...and to boot, he's letting her bash Mormons...come on, newsmedia...I'll bet this makes the tabloids this week...This is what american news journalism has become...

If I remember correctly, the Olympics had been riddled with kickbacks, graft, drugs and corruption for years...when it got to SLC the S*** hit the fan and the people in charge said they were not going to pay the ususal bribes...
THAT was when it made the news and the coverup and history of corruption was exposed....
Romney was brought in to keep everything squeaky clean...

I'm sure that the Olympic's are back to normal now...beause bribery in China is such a vital part of the culture.
