I don't play the "it's both sides fault" game. The Democrats are only guilty of actually thinking the Republicans care about compromise. Literally every problem this country is facing is a direct result of Republican policies of the last 30 years.

Of course it is the fault of the Republicans; they created the welfare state and they created Obama care. Before they came along, 30 years ago everything was fine. Right? Gas pump lines were before 30 years ago, so was Nam and Korea. Maybe those were problems created 30 years before that? I can't believe anyone would really think the way you do. Both sides have created their share, the changing country has as well. What would you like to see us, as a country do?

Might want to reconsider your statement. Source: Wikipedia; United States Presidents and Control of Congress.

Without the personality and race of President Obama as a unifying factor I expect the Republicans to dissolve in internal bickering between the main stream plutocrats that own the party and the Tea Party fanatics that are trying to introduce White Christian Moral Values to political consideration. Both sides have such basic differences that the party will not be able to reconcile. The Party will have to split into the party of Mammon and the party of Kristian correctness.

That will be very satisfying and fun to observe. It could not happen to a more disserving bunch.

The REAL question is what will Obama do when he no longer has the GOP to blame?

Honestly, now… do you think President Obama enjoys the political game so much he will remain to be a part of it once he retires? Or do you think it's more likely that he'll stay out of the way, like President Bush has done?

You presume the present will continue into the future unchanged. It won't.

Surely it won't continue. Bill Clinton was clearly a political junkie who enjoyed thinking through polling data as much as say, James Carville. Barack Obama has never been that way, IMO, he uses political know-how simply as a means to an end, but not as a hobby, of sorts.

Truthfully, if it could be done safely (and I doubt it could), I could picture him wanting to teach at a university after 1/20/2017.

He would fit in great at a University. Liberal safe-haven.

Unfortunately, I see him being a community organizer, just like he's been for the past 8 years. Everytime there is a race issue, he'll be front and center with his buddies Al Sharpton and Jesse James.
