The 2014 Kentucky Senate election is very close and Democratic candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes is either tied or ahead with the unpopular Republican Mitch McConnell. Can she pull an upset, or is the political environment going to give McConnell another term?

Mitch will probably win by making the voters hate Alison even more than they hate him. It's the way he's stayed in office for 30 years.

He will most likely win, but it will be close. BTW there have been a couple other threads on this topic, but I guess one more won't hurt.

Default Can Alison Lundergan Grimes defeat Kentucky Sen. and Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell?

Maybe...

But probably not.

Democrats in all states, have not received any help from all the trouble they have caused themselves.
I don't see Kentucky voting for a very unconservative person anytime soon.

The OP answered his own question... Can means most likely, and he says upset meaning it is most likely that McConnell will win....

I agree. Grimes has a solid business background, and Kentucky is like a lot of other states- the folks there want jobs, jobs, jobs. McConnell is very senior, but his voters are going to look at his jobs record this time, and Mitch may have been paying too much attention to what's happening in Washington these days, and not enough time to the folks at home.

It will be close. My bet is usually on the incumbent, and I think Mitch will win another term before he retires. If Grimes wins it, I think it will be a recount win.

Junkies that most of us are: this is the time of the year that is so much fun. We all guess, we read everything we can, we get passionate about our candidates and about those candidates we can't stand and then to top it off: football season is almost upon us. The nest 3 months or so will be fun, fun, fun and then we go back to the same old grind.

She is very dynamic, charismatic and lively. McConnell will have to convince people he even has a pulse if he, in fact, does.
