Joni Ernst surges into the lead in Iowa Senate race as GOP 2016 hopefuls come to town

Joni Ernst has vaulted into the lead over trial lawyer Bruce Braley for the open seat. What I find interesting about her campaign is that she has put together a diverse group of supporters from Ted Cruz to Paul Ryan to Bobby Jindal to (gasp) Sarah Palin.
Sarah Palin lends star power to Joni Ernst in Iowa

Excellent talk by Sarah at the link, as usual.

I thought you were about to name some Democrats or something ?

Did you think Republicans werent going to support another Republican or simply that being a different kind of Republican qualifies as diverse ????

Also, why do you call him a trial lawyer ? He hasnt actually practiced law since 2007

Braley will always be a trial lawyer at heart, if not in practice. You surely understood that subtlety of thought, didn't you?

The Democrats have really taken some steps back this month in terms of their positions in several key races. A state like Iowa, which went heavily for Obama in 2012 and even 2008, was seen as a promising win for the Democrats during this election cycle. Begich is also in trouble in Alaska, and holding seats in Arkansas and Louisiana is going to be tough for the Democrats.

In terms of governorships, the Democrats have also all but given up on the Ohio governor's race (where Kasich now looks to hold for another term), completely given up in Texas (not a good candidate to start with), and are now on their heels in Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, and even Massachusetts, where the ever-unpopular Martha Coakley squeaked out her primary win and now is tied with Charlie Baker (R). I think Democrats are also a little surprised at how close the races are in Florida, Michigan, and Wisconsin, given the unpopularity of those Republican governors.

Have you heard of the concept of the GOP 'big tent?' Cruz and Palin are pretty far right, Ryan is establishment, and Jindal is somewhere in between. 'Diverse' just means different, and these 4 are all different.

From Braley's Wikipedia entry:
Quote:
Braley has worked as a trial lawyer in Waterloo since 1983.
So he was a trial lawyer for 23 years--his entire career before getting elected to Congress. It hardly seems unreasonable to refer to him as a 'trial lawyer.' People often referred to Reagan as an 'actor' during his terms as prez even though he hadn't made a movie in 15 years. Was that objectionable?

Hmmm. I was just about to come on here and ask what's going on in Iowa?

Take a look at these charts, especially the first one.

Introducing The Senate Breakers Report | RedState

Interesting to note, the same column says the pollsters are now turning to Likely Voters instead of Registered Voters, so it will be interesting to see how tight some of these Senate races (like Iowa) really are.

wait, the left doesn't want to see the right work together. They still think we are totally split. I think we are going to work together for what we feel is best for our country.
