Arnold Schwarzenneger - Republican governor of California - is barred by the Constitution from running for president because he is not a native born American. But let's say this were not the case.....that there is no such constitutional impediment. In a hypothetical match-up between him and Barack Obama, who do you think will win?

Note: this question is not about who you will personally vote for, or whether you agree with either of these guys' policies. The question is about who you think is more electable in the general election if they happen to be the nominees of their respective parties. You may state your reasons to support your opinion. Thanks.

some voters are just so dumb that they would vote for arnold just b/c they've seen him in a movie. in that matchup, arnold would win just about over anybody.

Brawn still matters in a male dominated political system. So, yes, he would make Obama look like a small fry!

Schwarzenegger would win, because he has a visible track record of actually having a plan and implementing it.

Arnold would lose. Could you imagine him in a debate with Barack? Plus, Arnold'd have to change his name to "Schwartz and N-word". That would be a burden.

Think of this: How many pictures are there on the Internet of Arnold's jiggly parts? Do you think this type of background would play outside of California?

It does not make sense considering America is a land of immigrants. It is difficult to imagine he has become the governor of a state after having watched his 1983 Rio promotional video:
YouTube - Arnold goes to Carnival in Rio

"Still, the language of the Constitution implies that foreign-born citizens are less trustworthy than native-borns. As a nation founded by immigrants, do we have the right to maintain that the more than 12 million Americans who were born elsewhere and who pay taxes, serve on juries, vote, and die in combat cannot have the same opportunities?"

If Obama becomes the Democratic nominee (which is becoming more and more likely), he will go on to win the presidency. There's just no one among the current crop of GOP contenders that can beat him. The GOP field looks very weak, and the party is very divided. That's my view as a Republican. None of the GOP candidates appeal to me (fiscally conservative, strong on defense, socially moderate). Giuliani may have been the guy, but it's looking like his star is fading. I highly doubt he would even win New York in a match-up between Obama. It's frustrating. The only Republican politician with the national stature to beat Obama is Schwarzenneger. It's a shame he can't participate in this election.

America needs a respectable president like Ron Paul. Arnold is not that.
