Why do Republicans oppose a 'paper trail' or other solution that will help us regain some semblance of an honest electorial process? If we don't have honest elections, is America really a Democracy? Other countries mock us, saying that we try and force our 'Democracy' upon them, while our own elections are fixed. See the below site for numerous examples.

But it was the libs who got caught buying votes and going after illegals to vote. It was the libs who didnt want to force someone to show a picture ID before they voted? Now who is dishonest?

What evidence do you have to back up that claim? Or is it another conspiracy theory?

First of all, who the hell cares what other countries say. Other countries are in no position information wise to make judgements on our elections. Just like they aren't in the position information wise about who is most qualified to be our president.

2nd of all, trying to pin election fraud on one single party is ridiculous.

I would say it goes on, but claiming one party does it while the other doesn't is absurd.

Default Clear Evidence 2006 Congressional Elections Hacked

Clear Evidence 2006 Congressional Elections Hacked
By Rob Kall
OpEd News

Friday 17 November 2006
Results skewed nationwide in favor of Republicans by 4 percent, 3 million votes.
A major undercount of Democratic votes and an overcount of Republican votes in US House and Senate races across the country is indicated by an analysis of national exit polling data, by the Election Defense Alliance (EDA), a national election integrity organization.
These findings have led EDA to issue an urgent call for further investigation into the 2006 election results and a moratorium on deployment of all electronic election equipment.
"We see evidence of pervasive fraud, but apparently calibrated to political conditions existing before recent developments shifted the political landscape," said attorney Jonathan Simon, co-founder of Election Defense Alliance, "so 'the fix' turned out not to be sufficient for the actual circumstances." Explained Simon, "When you set out to rig an election, you want to do just enough to win. The greater the shift from expectations, (from exit polling, pre-election polling, demographics) the greater the risk of exposure - of provoking investigation. What was plenty to win on October 1 fell short on November 7.

I wouldn't say that *all* Republicans oppose a paper trail or other forms of vote confirmation, but there's a persistant strain of them who do. And it's troubling to see the efforts they'll go to.

Until the Democrats and/or independents start soundly beating Republicans in elections, many of them will continue to do whatever they can to make sure that the slim majority falls in their favor.

With all due respect, it is not just a Republican issue. Except for Kucinich, who is marginalized by the Democratic Party as Ron Paul is by the Republicans, no other Democrat is (to my knowledge), speaking up about this.

Making this just a Republican issue is facile and just continues the farce that we have a two-party system.

The Democrats are pushing hard for a 'paper trail', which the Republicans oppose. The Republicans are pushing hard for voter verification at the polls, which the Democrats oppose. They are supporting their power bases. The Republicans have already stolen elections with black-box fraud and the Democrats get most of the so-called 'illegal' vote. I am in favor of both, but am mostly concerned with my LEGAL vote which I don't even believe is honest anymore.

If Democrats thought they could benefit from questionable election practices, they'd do exactly the same thing. Don't fool yourself.
