Party rules. They lose most of their delegates if they try to go earlier.

I voted yes, and I think the order should be determined by the percentage of people that voted in the previous election. In other words the state with the highest voter turn-out would hold the first primary. This would encourage (and reward) people to vote.

I don't think the 3 states have too much influence because they don't carry that much weight, but I would like to see changes in the primary season. I would love to see primaries held over a period of maybe a couple of months and regionalized or somthing similar. Maybe, March, May and July. Whatever I do not like the idea of 3 one week, 10 the next, then a break and 6, etc. By the time it gets to the end of the season there is really no reason for some of us to vote. The decisions are already made. The only satisfaction is saying I voted for who I wanted to, heck with my already knowing who had the nomination.
