Trump proposes massive one-time tax on the rich - November 9, 1999

anyone else remember this?

so would a ~45% wealth tax solve our problems today?

Quote:
NEW YORK (CNN) -- Billionaire businessman Donald Trump has a plan to pay off the national debt, grant a middle class a tax cut, and keep Social Security afloat: tax rich people like himself.
Trump, a prospective candidate for the Reform Party presidential nomination, is proposing a one-time "net worth tax" on individuals and trusts worth $10 million or more.

I remember that - and a bunch of other things he's said and done that will come back to bite him. (Like how many times he filed bankruptcy?)

No oppo research time is being expended on him because no one seriously believes he's going to be a viable candidate.

BTW, study after study has shown that a one time injection of revenue from this and similar schemes would fund the government through, oh, about Tuesday.

If I recall he suggested the tax but unless included a caveat: balanced budget.

Liberals scoffed.

Hardly a surprise since he was a Democrat then.

You must know I remember that. Because I've raised that and other examples in plenty of threads proclaiming Trump to be a Conservative.

That is much different than saying you are rich if you make $250 G's a year.

10 million..... Big difference.
