What has McCain done that's heroic? He was in Prison because he had no choice, being caught. The word "Hero" is is being used too lightly and in instances where it has no place. A Hero is one who acts in an extraordinary way, above and beyond the call of duty, by choice, placing another's life above his own. McCain doesn't qualify for this.
For someone who isn't a hero in yours and Trump's eyes, the military sure gave him a lot of metals including the Silver Star, the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Distinguishing Flying Cross and a dozen others. And when he was running for president, Republicans were flaunting the fact that he was a war hero. I can't believe how quickly Trump fans are willing to go to throw McCain under the bus when just a few years ago the thought wouldn't have cross your minds to question his war record.
McCain is not the same McCain he used to be. He became a radicalized Right Wing Nut, and is far from being a Hero. Nixon was as crooked as they get, and look how he was given a Kings Funeral, and all the praise as if he had been a Saint, so don't put much into who gave McCain what. Its all meaningless chest thumping.
As a former Republican, I used to admire McCain, for his stances, even if they went against his Party. Now he is just another Republican Right Wing Nut Clown.

What matters is an absolutely stupid and ill thought out, shot-from-the-lip attack by Trump that will rile even those who don't give a crap about McCains's service history.
He has demonstrated a total lack of discretionary thinking as it applies to his mouth being put into gear before his brain has gotten out of the cavier bowl.
He spewed vitriol and instead of moderating and attempting to draw back from the abyss he doubles down in what could only be described as a move based upon the arrogance of stature.
He will have lost a significant amount of respect from the people he's been courting now how stupid is that he couldn't see he was going to throw an insult at a WASP, the very people HE desperately needs in his corner. I'll agree that McCain has changed over the decades...who hasn't. BUT that doesn't change his military record and shouldn't play into how that period of his life is viewed today. Trump disrespected ALL POWs in his ramblings about McCain...labeled them all "losers" for getting caught.
What DID make him a hero was joining the service for our country.
While I was sporting around , soldiers were dying Those are the real hero's.
Hero's are the combat troops that defend against the enemy.
Hero's are the fighting men that take a bullet to protect the other members of the fighting combat troops.
Hero's are the combat recruit that fought to the end to protect his platoon in the face of enemy fire.
None of those are Heros, no more than anyone else that's doing their Job is a Hero. These are people doing what they are being paid to do. The Dangers that come with their Jobs don't make them Heros either. The Media and a lot of Morons have really degraded and cheapened the term Hero, when they apply it just to sensationalize something.
Many people have waited a long long time for someone to speak as Donald Trump has.. everyone talks and accepts illegals .. nothing being done.. Trump had the guts to say what the real problems are with this country with no apologies.
Trump doesn't have guts. He would have volunteered to join the service and not come up with a zillion excuses why he couldn't, if he actually had any guts.
How much guts does it take to declare bankruptcy many times rather than paying off your business debts?
