Talk from politically-connected journalists on various talk shows
this weekend such as on the big 3 and PBS suggesting Al Gore
is seriously thinking about it, so is Joe Biden and John Kerry is
planning on it post-Iran deal.
This would really upset the apple cart for not only Hillary,
but the Republicans. Heavy hitters.
I wouldn't be surprised if Kerry entered the race and won the nomination. I'm certainly not a fan, but some people will be comfortable with his experience, confidence, and the fact he's not abrasive.
Edited to add: Gore and Biden shouldn't bother to waste their time. Hard for me to believe Clinton or Sanders is going to get the nomination. Jim Webb, maybe, but Kerry could probably beat him out.
Kerry, Biden and Gore? I think they're all losers. I can see why they want in. Hillary is looking weaker now than she did, but these three aren't going anywhere.
I hope Biden jumps in isn't for the entertainment value.
Kerry and gore would not have any traction.
Like it or not, Hillary is the candidate for the dems. She would have to have a major medical issue, like a terrible stroke, for anyone else to pass her up at this point.
LEBOUTILLIER: Kerry wants to run. This Iran nuke deal, which --
BANDERAS: I want to talk about that in a moment.
SCHOEN: And I’m hearing Al Gore wants to run.
CADDELL: Of course.
LEBOUTILLIER: Is that true?
SCHOEN: Yeah. That's what I’m hearing.
CADDELL: Oh my.
LEBOUTILLIER: We have talked about Kerry doing this Iran nuke deal. In his head he thinks he'll get the Nobel Peace Prize --
BANDERAS: All right.
LEBOUTILLIER: -- and use that as a springboard to run. Does John Kerry Think the Iran Deal Will Launch Him to the Presidency? - The Rush Limbaugh Show
I really doubt Al Gore would enter the race, that ship has long since passed for him. Heck 2004 would have been a better time to try to run again, going for a second round with George W. Bush.
John Kerry is strange in that he has lost an election in 2004, and in modern history no candidate who has lost a previous election has entered again. I think the last one was Adlai Stevenson, although Richard Nixon did prove a former loser could go on to become a winner. But that is the exception. Even going way back a hundred years or so, with William Jennings Bryan, generally losing candidates do not ever win.
Joe Biden has the best chance, his big drawback his age, 72 and he will be 74 by election time. Plus with the family tragedies he has been facing, I don't know.
It would be interesting to watch.
