I noticed a few times he mentioned Mexico, Canada, and the US coming together to solve our problems in a warm fuzzy way, scary isn't it?

A lot of people don't see this as a big deal. It only matters if you don't care that our laws are superseded by international laws. The North American Union was supposed to go forward right after Bush was elected in 2000. Mexican President Vicente Fox was on Larry King live talking about this last year. The long term goal is one money, one set of laws that would ignore US sovereignty.

View it as a conspiracy if you want, but Bush mentioned it in the SOTU address last night. That super highway that would connect Mexico with Canada is being built along the I-35 corridor in Texas. I see it as a huge problem given the number of jobs we're lost. It's time to stop this and reverse a lot of the so-called "free trade" agreements.

I about fell out of my chair when he said that about Mexico and Canada.

Both those countries are out to screw us and we sit back and let them do it.

Mexico has nothing I want or need and we need to penalize any and all companies who are moving to Mexico from the US.

We dont need to trade with anyone unless there is an advantage to us for ONCE.

Its about time we screw someone over and have the trading to our advantage and not the 20-80 screw job we are getting from Canada right now. They wont allow products made in America do even cross the border in most cases. But we open ours to them.

We had better wake up and real quick.

You and I disagree on a lot of things, but I had to give you a +1 on this. We really do need to stop this sort of violation of our own laws.

Bush is pushing the Free trade agenda really hard. So far, americans have received the short end of the stick. Well you can't say the man is not being honest about his agendas. It's just that people are not paying attention.

There are a lot of us out there that think free trade is a good idea, and that "losing manufacturing jobs" isn't a very big deal, since our productivity and manufacturing GDP keep going up.

For example, I don't care that China and Canada won't import our products to the extent that we will import theirs. So what? That just means that they'll pay higher prices for those goods, and we will pay lower prices (due to more competition). It will put our businesses at an advantage.

So for people like me, what's the downside to this? I think economic protectionism is a terrible policy that hurts the American consumer. I am tremendously skeptical that a "North American Union" would supercede or conflict with our soverignity or ability to make and enforce laws as we see fit. I like Mexico and Canada, and think the more we trade with them, the better. I want our neighbors to be wealthy and economically strong, because growth in their markets will spur growth in ours.

We can agree to disagree, but we both know what is right is right.

We both know what is wrong with this country. We just have different thoughts about it.

America is getting screwed bigtime and its time we stop it.

Our companies are benefitting from moving to Mexico and bringing goods back to us to buy at the same price we paid to start with, they are not being forced to add on tariffs and fees like an importer.

My message is if you leave America and take American jobs away then we will PENALIZE your butt off until you move back into American and give those jobs back to Americans.

Free trade is NOT A FAIR TRADE to America. We consumed tons of goods in the US and its time we force other countries to trade EVEN or we no longer want you items.

Simple if it is not at least 50/50 or to our advantage then we no longer should be trading goods with them.

I am open to global trading, but not at a disadvantage to us in any way, shape or form.

We dont need our people re trained, re trained for what? Give them the manufacturing jobs back and lets get to work forcing other countries to buy our items we MAKE. The heck with the tech jobs and all that crap. We need people on assembly lines.

When John McCain said that the auto jobs are not coming back to Michigan I about threw up, why not John? Then why arent we doing something to make sure they come back? Like finding a way to get everyone to drive American made cars? What is so wrong with that.

Made in America is the way to go.

I watched GW last night say that we need to trade with Canada and Mexico and then say the words Made in America too. Made in America means nothing unless both of those countries trade even with us. That about drove me nuts.

Instead of talking about it, we need to start SCREAMING no and start protesting...How dare them sell us out like this...We The People still means something and we better fight for our country while we still have one! Bush is the worst President we've ever had and I regret that I voted for the rat bastard!

I hope that last word prints!

Then, in effect, you want no trading at all. Trading puts a disadvantage on certain American industries. Not trading puts a disadvantage on every american who wants to buy a product that isn't freely traded.

For example, if we stopped importing Japanese automobiles, Americans would be paying $50,000 for a Ford Focus. We simply don't have the ability to produce the number of vehicles at the price we currently enjoy. Even attempting to do so would rob our labor market of workers in other industries.

I think you fail to understand that an assembly line is technology. You also fail to understand that what you call "tech jobs" does in fact creating goods and services which other countries buy. If you try and turn the clock back to 1950, you might just get what you ask for - a lower absolute standard of living.

Because other countries can produce better cars, cheaper.

Because we don't like paying $50,000 for a Ford Focus.

What, FORCING people to buy a certain product? That sounds like a command economy, not a free market economy.
