I think this pretty well sums up and lines out what the GOP Establishment's plans are.
The group within the Republican party apparatus affectionately known as the “establishment”, or GOPe, does not now – nor do they ever – consider the progressive side of the political continuum, Democrats, as their enemy. The enemy of the GOPe is the conservative base within the republican party.
The notion that the GOPe is planting negative info in the media to discredit otherwise good candidates is laughable. The narrative being created about the flaws of Carson, Cruz, Paul and others is TRUE. There is no need to plant anything. The voters will figure that out for themselves just listening to these candidates. Bush and Rubio will duke it out until Bush wins on the maturity aspect. That much about Rubio may be spin, but the rest on the rest? Nah, they really are a bunch of clowns.

The article misses one key point. The Rovians (who they are really talking about) have lost 2 presidential elections in a row. Their influence is on the wane and their boy, JEB, isn't cutting it either. Whoever is elected the next president of the USA from the GOP becomes the new establishment.
Unfortunately many voters are still brainwashed into thinking there's a difference between establishment politicians. They are all bought and paid for by the same lobbyists and donors.

Not exactly. I don't think anyone ever considered Reagan as "the new establishment" when he surprised many by winning with the biggest landslide in history. No one thought he could win. No one thought he would be the nominee, either.
But, lets look at the Democrat side:
They have Hillary, who isn't getting anyone to her events, and her numbers are tanking fast.
They have Sanders, a self proclaimed Socialist, who is strongly opposed to big businesses and Wall Street financiers, who are some of the Democrats largest donors. He has threatened to increase their taxes substantially. It has been said that they aren't likely to nominate him for that reason. It would be political suicide. You don't bite the hand that feeds you.
So, who's left? Biden may be days away from announcing. He is strongly opposed to abortion, though he has said he wouldn't let that affect his politics. I don't know that he has a chance either.
I think it's the Republican's race to lose, and they have very strong candidates (forget Bush ... he's only at about 5%)
My favorite right now is Cruz. The more I hear him speak, the more I like him. Certainly no establishment candidate, he goes after the RINO's in the Party with gusto and honesty, and called McConnell what he is, a liar.
