If Hillary Rodham Clinton implodes in Iowa and New Hampshire to Bernie Sanders, could New Mexico Senator Martin Heinrich save the Democratic Party and be the nominee? He's young, Western, and he looks like the future of the party?

From a practical viewpoint it's too late for anyone new to enter either the GOP or Democratic primary. Note - that Examiner article is a year old.

If Hillary imploded, What would most likely happen is Democrats splitting between Martin O'Malley and Bernie as it is too late for anyone else to get on the ballots.

If that happens, you will likely see Biden drafted from the floor.

Gore would be the nominee. Or Bernie.

But Hillary will probably be the nominee anyways.

I read that. So if the email scandal explodes into a major face-off between the DOJ and the FBI (wouldn't that be something!!) and forces Hillary to step aside, are the Democrats then stuck with Sanders and O'Malley? They can't run any of their big guns instead?

They will have to wait for the background checks to clear. Then they can shoot themselves in the foot before the race.

Rest yourself. There is no such event on the horizon, you've been reading/watching too many right wing fairy tales. Here's an antidote:

The FBI is conducting a general inquiry into the security of Clinton’s private email server. But law enforcement officials have said Clinton herself is not the target of the inquiry, and it is not a full-blown criminal investigation.
