Fascinating commentary from David Axelrod. Axelrod is the guy who ran Obama's campaign against King Hillary and John McCain. Says that Trump's rise caught him completely by surprise.
Despite having many bad things to say about Trump and and nothing but praise for Obama, Axelrod is no longer willing to bet against Trump and his eventual winning of the White House.
The galling thing is, if I had only reread my own words, written nine years ago to another aspiring candidate, I would have taken the Trump candidacy more seriously from the start.
“The most influential politician in 2008 won’t be on the ballot,” I wrote to Senator Obama in 2006. “His name is George W. Bush.”
Indeed.
