That's why so many love Ted Cruz. He's always talking about America being great and the Constitution. He's not talking about making America like England.
what, he doesn't want tea and scones everywhere, health service for all, TV without commercials, soccer instead of footy, nude bodies on TV instead of pixellated bits, martini drinking secret agents and great wit?

Washington's overtures have become more public. At a media event on Tuesday, for instance, Defense Secretary Ash Carter made it a point to note: “We have 3,700 boots on the ground in Iraq today, and we're looking to do more. We're looking for opportunities to do more.”

Iraq's conspicuous silence on Washington's offer of more U.S. troops

By your logic the Second Amendment is the cause of any death from gunfire in the US because it authorizes people having those guns, eh?
Your logic is faulty. The Second Amendment doesn't authorize death. However, the 1998 Iraq Liberation Act does indeed authorize the use of the US military to liberate Iraq.

Oh, now I get it. Tarring and feathering people whose speech you don't like is how you demonstrate your commitment to the protection of free speech.:roll eyes:

Whatever, I understand the vast difference between authorize and mandate, that others choose not to but choose to pretend the two are interchangeable isn't my problem.

It's a shame they're not looking to do more for America.

Liberty requires great responsibility. You can go exercise your liberal free speech and get tarred and feathered for trying to make America to be like England. Go to a bar and start using your free speech in the wrong way and you might get punched in the face.

A good tar and feathering will help a lot of liberals to be responsible citizens and stop acting like victims.

It reminds me of voting for high school ASB president:

1st Campaigner: I'm going to stop things like grading on a curve. Everyone gets the grade that they earned, it's an incentive to work harder.

Voters: Boooooooo! We don't want to work for it! Boooooo!

2nd Campaigner: I'm going to give everyone free snacks and pop from the vending machine every Friday, and we all get a one day school week, because no one likes coming to school!

Voters: zOMG! Yaaaaaaaay! Finally someone who is looking out for our best interests! Yaaaaaaaay!

1st Campaigner: But how are you going to pay for all that free pop and snacks? How are you going to get properly educated on one day a week? Will you go to school longer in the summer, have less time on winter and spring breaks? Think, people!

Voters: Boooooooooo! We don't need no more schooling, we is smart enough, and the vendors can give that stuff to us for free, they can afford it! Boooooooooooooo!

2nd Campaigner: Free stuff for everyone and no school!

Voters: Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! He's going to fill up my report card with As, and give me a free diploma! Yaaaaaaaaaaaay!

Democrats spewed that crap because they weren't facing reality. Anyone with an iota of political acumen knew that Reagan would mop the floor with Carter. The man nearly unsat a sitting President in a primary. Ted Cruz is far enough right to be off the map and Ronald Reagan was moderate. Anyone who thinks that Ted Cruz and Old Ronnie are the same doesn't understand history. The only way Ted Cruz could win is if Marco Rubio and Trump split the moderate vote and allow him to sneak in. Otherwise it's likely going to be Rubio who wins the election.
