Trump has the GOP base excited because he is right on a handful of issues, and those issues, even if it's only a few, are the most important issues of this election. That is why Trump is getting conservatives excited and that's why he is going to win the nomination and then the general election. This election isn't going to be about ideology, it's going to be about jobs and immigration. That's it. Just fyi, I'm not a Trump supporter or conservative, but I can see what's going on. Trump can be wrong on 75% of the issues and it just doesn't matter, he's right on immigration, jobs, and a lot of people like his foreign policies. Trump isn't fooling 75% of the people, most understand he's probably not a Christian, he's probably pro-choice, who knows what he thinks on health care, but those don't matter at this point. People, especially the right wing think he can lead the US out of the mess we are in.

Rubio is not exciting at all. The comparison to Romney is actually pretty good. Hillary is also a very dull person and will bring no excitement, heck Sanders has more excitement then Hillary and he's 75 years old. Trump, like him or hate him, is the only one bringing any energy to this election cycle.

So, going by your logic, who is the "great left wingnut" that's going to excite you and your ilk into voting the democrats "into the WH"? Do tell.
