That isn't the government going against the will of the people, it is a political party. They have every legal right to decide how to pick their nominee. Any repercussions will have to occur by the voters. It is looking more and more like they are willing to lose this year rather than be represented by Trump.
Lose or throw the race again which is what they did in the last two elections by running candidates that didn't have snowballs chance in.......? I think it is more than suspicious that they have this desire to lose to Hillary.

I still think they just want to throw the race to Hillary. I am too terrified of what the answer might be as to why they would want to do this.

Again... Right? I think it's more than suspicious, too. I understood Obama's 2 terms. He's a patsy; a fall guy. And he's filled that role perfectly. But what's on the horizon now that they don't want to have to deal with?

Yup, the party does have to have a way to safe-guard the country against someone unsuitable winning like Justin Beifer or Keyan West or some other rich person with more cash than brain power. It's looking like a brokered convention is a strong possibility this year. Voters could still do a write-in ballot for Trump if he's not on the ticket.

If they deny Trump at this point, the party is dead.
What does the 8 state threshold have to do with blocking Trump? he's already past it. That's more of an issue for Rubio if anyone.
edit: misread it. Trump is NEARLY close- he has a majority in five states and a plurality in the others. Cruz has only texas.
Trump has only won the majority of the vote in ONE state, not 5. You also need to read the rule again. It expires the day before the convention. That means they can make all new rules and move that threshold up with a majority vote at the convention. So Trump could win a majority in 49 states and they could move the threshold to 50 at the convention and buh bye Trump. He's not going to get the nomination
The RNC and DNC are permitted to set their own rules for the nomination of their party's candidates but once those rules are set and agreed upon they are legally required to abide by them and can't break, rewrite, or ignore them any more than a private employer could decide to ignore a contract they signed.
The RNC absolutely CANNOT deny Trump the nomination should he win a majority of the available delegates. The best they can hope for is that Cruz or Rubio manages to get a majority first (which is extremely unlikely) or that Rubio and Cruz manage to split enough of the vote that no one ends up with a majority, and it goes to a "brokered convention" situation where all delegates are officially "released" and free to select another nominee.
Alternatively, an establishment candidate could run as a third party candidate with personal funds and SuperPAC money, but not money donated to the RNC.
Exactly right. Too many people fail to realize this.
cuz every time I look at him, I see President Hillary Clinton.
