Cruz is about as Big Government as you can get when it comes to propping up his cronies

110% lawyer. The state of Texas pays the fees, the state of Texas wants to ban sex toys, Ted Cruz will argue that sex toys should be banned, on principle. Next week, when someone else pays the fees, he'll argue that sex toys should be legal, on principle. And he'll never, ever understand why people hold him in contempt over it.

Yeah, either that or... he was doing the job people were paying him to do in Texas.

Cruz campaign spokeswoman Alice Stewart sought to distance the presidential candidate from his old legal brief, noting in an email that as solicitor general, Cruz had an obligation to defend Texas' laws in court, regardless of whether he agreed with them.
"Senator Cruz personally believes that the Texas law in question was, as (Supreme Court) Justice (Clarence) Thomas said in another context, an 'uncommonly silly' law," Stewart said. "But the office was nevertheless duty-bound to defend the policy judgment of the Texas Legislature."

Cruz's job was to defend Texas law in federal court, that's why he was there of course.

Further, Cruz's argument was whether the Texas Sex Toy ban was constitutional and not a violation of the 14th Amendment, not whether it was a wise policy or law- just that the state legislature had the right to pass it. not everything that is not wise is unconstitutional.

I bet the people complaining about this were strangely silent on the Kwong and Kachalsky cases.

"Just following orders" defense?

Fantastic.

Following orders...much like a microwave or washing machine...minus the whole ruining of lives.

As solicitor general, Ted Cruz argued people have no legal right to use sex toys - Chicago Tribune

When did Texas ban "sex toys" and why in the world would a question like that, even be asked.

Sex Toys are sold like the Pampered Chef, in Texas. Ever walk into a "Taboo" store? Sex toys in abundance there. Sex toys are illegal in Texas... What a made up lie.
