The worst you can infer is that the WP got him moving on it, but to assume he wasn't going to keep his pledge is just that, an assumption.

Listening to that news conference leaves a normal person questioning Trump's mental state. He was all over insulting the press, calling people names, rambling on about unrelated stuff. The guy has a screw lose.

Personally, I doubt Trump has ever given very much to charity. He doesn't strike me as generous without a payoff. I also doubt he has paid much if anything in personal income taxes. If so, both may hurt him with voters.

Trump raised money for vets at his no show debate for votes, probably. Do his motives matter to vets? I hope not. I don't recall Bill or Hillary raising money for vets. In fact while Hillary was in office as a Senator and SOS, the vet care was deplorable.

Who was more accountable and responsible for the VA health care being so unacceptable in this country? Easy answer to me.

Most of the vets' organizations said the checks they got were dated 5/24 - the day the Washington Post accused Trump of not distributing the money! That leaves little doubt he had every intention of just pocketing it until he was outed. No wonder he was ranting at the media today. They cost him millions.

The media doesn't want to report the news. They fill it with opinion to try and make the news. Make it into spin to fit their agenda and misinform the public.
By railing against the media, Trump also stokes the anti-media fervor of his base (which puts little stock in anything the media says) and deflects attention from his own shortcomings — in this instance, the fact that he did not raise the $6 million for veterans groups until forced to do so by pressure from the media. A day spent talking about Trump's relationship with the media is a day not spent talking about his own controversies.

Yep. Damn the stupid media for remembering and following up. He almost walked away with millions of dollars that good-intentioned people gave out of the goodness of their hearts for wounded vets. And the big, fat, wealthy, orange con man nearly got away with all of it.

Raising money for veterans and holding the VA accountable are different issues, I believe both Clintons have donated money to vets.

I give Robert Gates a tremendous amount of credit for holding the VA responsible, both Obama and Bush have made progress.

Think back to the deplorable conditions at Robert Reid in Bethesda in early 2000 right as we were stepping up the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
