...or is he just making a play for the disgruntled Sanders' supporters? But aren't libertarians supposed to be principled?
Quote:
Libertarian socialism is a group of anti-authoritarian[6] political philosophies inside the socialist movement that rejects socialism as centralized state ownership and control of the economy,[7] as well as the state itself.[8] It criticizes wage labour relationships within the workplace,[9] instead emphasizing workers' self-management of the workplace[8] and decentralized structures of political organization,[10][11][12] asserting that a society based on freedom and justice can be achieved through abolishing authoritarian institutions that control certain means of production and subordinate the majority to an owning class or political and economic elite.
I think a lot of people agree with the issues being brought up by Bernie - but a lot of people disagree in the method(s) on how to deal with said issues.

Exactly! It is the responsible individual who is in need of empowerment -- not Big Brother/Sister. Unortunately, much of Sanders' idealism is couched in terms far more appealig to the less-responsible. That leaves only the responsible among us to pick up the tab for the unmotivated near-majority.
Whem Sanders comes up eith a strategy to deal with the unmotivated dead weight within his ranks, I'm ready to talk -- but I wouldn't look for that anytime soon, if ever.

No, he's saying he agrees with Bernie on everything except economic issues. Libertarian describes social policy, i.e. Gay marriage, you can be an anarcho capitalist or a libertarian socialist.
A substantial part of Bernie's supporters are libertarians. Once he is out, I imagine they go support Johnson, except for practical ones that would support one of the other two candidates.
Yes, there's a lot more to being libertarian than economic issues. For instance, of the three leading presidential candidates, Sanders is the one who is least likely to threaten freedom of the press and the least likely to roll back the federal government's "gentleman's agreement" regarding federal prosecution of marijuana in states that are experimenting with legalization.

Agree on that. Trump, Johnson, and Sanders all seem to be going at these issues in different ways. No candiate I feel as yet as come forward with the best way to deal with the issues.
I prefer more party to States. Via states tax residents for universal healthcare, cost of free community college, infrastructure, state run services corrections/police#so forth, primary/secondary education, and National Guard.

Make that 73%. Can't fix the title.
Socialism and Libertarianism are polar opposites. Socialism is all about the government doing more of everything. Libertarianism is about the government doing less of everything.
The reason that Bernie Sanders and Gary Johnson are likely to agree a whole lot is because we Libertarians are extremely socially liberal. Socially liberal = get the government to butt out of our lives. Our sex lives, our personal lives, etc. It seems to me that most of the hot button issues out there are all about whether or not to legislate personal choice. It is also important to note that Gary Johnson knows perfectly well that he has to draw votes from both sides of the aisle in order to win, so he's emphasizing his similarities.
Another great case in point is immigration. Libertarianism favors massively simplifying the process and expediting the legalization of illegals. This is because it is the simplest and cheapest solution.
You tend to hear a lot less about issues where the government is spending money like idiots and promising to fund everything under the sun. On those issues, Libertarians couldn't be more dissimilar from Democrats and Socialists.
