If you listen to Trump at the RNC, it's ridiculous. Apparently we live in an apocalyptic hellscape with hordes of foreign-looking savages roaming the streets, wreaking carnage upon Americans. It's the "WORST IT'S EVER BEEN!" he tells us, and the only thing that can save us from this certain destruction.... is Trump.
This is the same ploy used by every two-bit dictator since Mussolini: whip up naive people's anger and fear and aim it at some largely mythical bogeyman that is supposedly responsible for all their problems; then portray himself as the only strongman who can fix it. Worked well with the Jews, didn't it?
But the reality is that there is WAY less crime than when Ronald Reagan was in office. Crime has risen recently, and it goes up and down in different states, but it is still near multi-decade lows.
I mean, I guess I'm just preaching to the choir here since I know conservatives are inherently fearful of scary concepts like "data," but for those of you with some critical thinking capability... here you go. This is just one example. So...did we live in a disastrous, incompetent, crime-ridden hellscape when Reagan was president?
Of course, you won't hear something like this at a Trump convention. Better to just get all those hordes of naive moo-cows spinning around in a frothing frenzy, pretzeling their legs and pissing themselves over the supposed unprecedented humanitarian disaster that is the USA today, which will all be solved overnight when Trump kicks the Mexicans out, builds a wall around the country, and puts up some tariffs.
Trump's core competency is exploiting people's irrational fears, and it's an old game.
There is only one problem with what you are saying, conservatives always use this very data to explain to the anti-gun crowd that there is no gun violence epidemic.
There has been a spike of terrorist attacks, and cop killing.
Apparently his fear-mongering may not pay off as well as he thinks. But then again, he's not very good at gambling as reflected in his Atlantic City casino financial mess.
There you go A, using facts and data to try and confuse the righties. Damn...it's just not fair! It's a rigged system! The media is biased! The polls are controlled by the left! The bureau of labor statistics is corrupted by Hillary!
Best of all, now with Kaine (a devout catholic) as the VP choice they can start saying him and the pope are colluding to make the dumpster look bad. Don't worry gang, the Donald can do that without any help from the left.
the reality is that the 'state' of the country and its safety isn't as bad as trump is making it out to be. however, its not as good as obama is making it out to be. it really comes down to bodies in the streets, machete wielding idiots, dead officers littering our streets and so on and so forth. the actual crime stats vs the mass attacks are two different things. also, the culture in places like chicago hasn't changed and obama has done nothing to change it and neither will hillary.

The total number of officers killed in shootings, has increased 78 percent compared to 2015. This includes the recent shootings in Dallas and Baton Rouge.
The overall number of police deaths has decreased in the past two decades. For the past 10 to 15 years, traffic-related incidents (including criminal pursuit and instances where officers are intentionally struck by offenders) have been the leading cause of death among police officers.
Tell us our lying eyes are wrong and back it up with BS/statistics.
Then repeat until the drooling zombies are gnashing teeth.
Your lying eyes are wrong. Statistics are not BS; they are maintained by the FBI based on criminal records. Crime is at relative historic lows, and there was way more of it during Reagan's years (a time that you conservatives tend to think was ideal).
So you're just wrong. No two ways about it. And by denying fact-based reality, you have no credibility. You regard data that is pretty consistent, clean, and reliable as suspect, which raises into question your fundamental judgment as a rational adult. In other words, you make a good Trump supporter. He needs to manipulate the delusions of fearful, un-educated people in order to gain power; fortunately for him, there are a lot of those kinds.
