Can the 2016 election be rigged? You bet | TheHill

Wow! Shocked a mainstream source would dare write an article exposing this.

It's an op-ed piece from a contributor. The Hill, like nearly all MSM, frequently carries op-eds.

(For those unfamiliar with the term, op-ed means "opposite editorial opinion", and is an essay that gives the opinion of the writer, who is not employed by the site and does not necessariiy represent the site's views)

I guess you just shouldn't bother even voting then eh?

I LOVE how the right-wing nutjobs are already making excuses for Trumps upcoming loss. That's really a great thing for Democrats in the future because the more GOP voters who believe the election is rigged - and that therefor their votes are worthless - the fewer will tend to vote in upcoming elections. These rightwing folks who push this nonsense are apparently too dumb to realize they are simply helping to create their own future doom.

So, go for it!

Ken

The HBO documentary "Hacking Democracy" was not an op-ed. It documented election officials tampering with the results, and destroying the paper trail. It also showed how easy it is to hack the electronic voting machines, and that it is undetectable.

Yes - just like a good little paranoid conservative! When things don't go your way - or even if they do - be sure to indulge in a morass of bitter conspiracy theories about how everything around you is "rigged." :roll eyes: Your imaginations run wild and yet you never have any evidence. And when you're presented with pesky things called "facts"... those are rigged, too! You guys really get off on spending your lives in a hallucinatory state, don't you?

The fact that the supposed next leader of the free world is going around encouraging people to believe that the very institutions he's going to safeguard are useless is highly irresponsible. But then again, nothing about Donald Trump or his campaign says "responsible adult" in any way.

However you try to slice it, and Trump has sliced it several ways, reputable experts across the political spectrum agree that it would be essentially impossible to deliberately or systemically alter the outcome of a national election. It can’t be done by means of voter fraud (which is virtually non-existent), through buying votes (too tough and legally risky to pull off nationwide), or tampering with voting machines (which are often backed up by paper ballots or other means of auditing). One study by the Brennan Center for Justice at New York University School of Law found that a person is more likely to be struck by lightning than to commit in-person voter impersonation, which is one of the means of cheating that Trump has suggested could sway the coming election outcome for Hillary Clinton. A survey by Justin Levitt, a professor at Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, found only 31 credible incidents around the country, between 2000 and 2014, in which someone may have pretended to be someone else at the polls in general, primary, special, and municipal elections. In general and primary elections alone, more than 1 billion ballots were cast during that period.

There IS no silent majority. You all are in the minority. Deal with it and quit all of this incessant whining and complaining. The polls show Hillary winning because she is. The media continues to show how disgusted the world is with Trump because for the most part, they are. Take off the tin foil conspiracy hat and deal in reality for once.

Watch the HBO documentary "Hacking Democracy", then tell us how there is no election fraud.

Can it be? That ship has already sailed. How else can you explain the two current candidates?

The OP didn't link that so it has nothing to do with my comment.
