No legal obligation to do what every president has done for the last 11 presidential elections. But he does have a moral obligation to the American people to do so. Too many foreign business entanglements. We need a president who will be transparent.
Then I suggest you forget about EITHER ONE of the leading candidates.
The Clintons have released decades' worth of their tax returns.
So yeah, we do think Trump should be more like Hillary.
Oh really? Then where's the outcry for the release of 33,000 emails that are under subpoena?
As for the statement "Presidents since Nixon have released them" I say So? What about all the ones prior to Nixon? Were they all crooks and cheats or liars because they didn't?
Yeah, lets lay down some arbitrary "custom" and try to make it some kind of "thing". If it's really that important shouldn't it have been made part of the rule of law by now?..,
Then I suggest you forget about EITHER ONE of the leading candidates.
That's not one of the options. One of these two people will be POTUS. So the relative comparison is important.

"I actually believe that for the most part he's a fascist," Stipanovich told CNN's John Berman. "He's a xenophobe, he's a racist, he's an isolationist, he's a protectionist, he has little respect for any part of the constitution except the second amendment. He's an authoritarian. The aura of violence clings to him. I believe he's a dangerous man."
The critical difference between a Democrat and a Fascist, from the perspective of what you were discussing, is that even the least transparent Democrat recognizes the public's right to transparency, while a Fascist doesn't view the public as having any rights except those the Fascist chooses to grant them.
We can see clear indicators of Fascism even in the belligerent attitude of Trump and his remaining surrogates, holding utter contempt for the public's right to know what they wish to know, and refusing to address themselves to questions and inquiries, instead aggressively pivoting to their political propaganda. They view exposure solely as an opportunity to dupe new sycophants rather than inform the public.
While Clinton's campaign doesn't like to talk about its embarrassments, it respects the public enough to at least address themselves to the questions asked, albeit curtly at times, and then respects the public enough to let the person interviewing them decide what to talk about next rather than priggishly presuming to spew propaganda.
This reliance on deception and propaganda by the Trump campaign has all the hallmarks of the Fascist regime we can expect from a Trump administration. The public would be viewed as an inconvenience at best, rather than those who the administration is ostensibly supposed to be serving.
Oh really? Then where's the outcry for the release of 33,000 emails that are under subpoena?
If they're under subpoena, then the Marshals Service can just go and confiscate them. The fact that they don't do that highlights the ridiculously inane lie in your rhetoric. The emails no longer exist. The matter of their destruction has been subjected to due process and your perspective on how that should be addressed did not prevail. How far removed from reality by irrational frustration that one didn't get one's own way must one be to demand "release" of something that that one knows does not exist?

Perhaps it will be. Regardless, I don't think Trump should release his taxes. Rather, I think he and his surrogates should maturely and honorably grant that the most reasonable conclusion from his unwillingness to do so is that they contain grievously disqualifying evidence, i.e.:
That Trump pays a remarkably low effective income tax rate;
That until Trump decided to run for POTUS he was exceedingly ungenerous;
That his investments in businesses in America's allies and enemies are such that there is no way for him to serve without continually engaging in corrupt conflicts of interest;
That there is even some revelation from his tax filings that we cannot readily forsee.
However, there is nothing honorable about Trump's campaign.
Who cares about missing emails? Hard to keep up outrage for that when millions of new emails are generated and deleted every day, sorry to say.
Not too many of those millions of deleted emails concern some of the country's most important secrets or were sent or received by the Secretary of State.
Be grateful she beat the rap, but really, show more sense than comparing what she did to what we regular people do.
