Willful ignorance is the state and practice of ignoring any sensory input that appears to contradict one’s inner model of reality. At heart, it is almost certainly driven by confirmation bias.
It differs from the standard definition of “ignorance“ — which just means that one is unaware of something — in that willfully ignorant people are fully aware of facts, resources and sources, but refuse to acknowledge them. Indeed, calling someone "ignorant" shouldn’t really be a pejorative, but intentional and willful ignorance is an entirely different matter. In practice though, the word "ignorance" has often come to mean "willful ignorance", and indeed, in many non-English languages, the word based on the same stem actually carries that meaning.
It is sometimes referred to as tactical stupidity.
It seems many a Trump supporter fits this definition to a T. T for tactical stupidity.

Most of the Left has been practicing willful ignorance (or willful blindness) for decades. The most recent evidence is there attitude toward Islam and Muslims. They absolutely refuse to believe that Islamists have a plan to subjugate the entire globe to Islam, even though the Muslim Brotherhood has published the plan and is implementing it right before our eyes. Further, they call anyone who mentions this, and "Islamophobe" and a conspiracy theorist.
They also seem to be blind to Hillary's misdeeds and scandals, or they just plain don't care.
Yes we are ignorant , but not gullible to actually support a leftist agenda that has made the Democratic
party a cesspool of liberalism and would place America in a spiral of unrecoverable consequences. Hillary and her minions are "them" , "I" and me focused . It isn't about us or them it's about the country . Their 11th hour strategy has little to do with the state of the union , but how to demean methodically Trump . Hillary is a snake in the grass who has whipped a naive mellinial generation who can't grasp any history or behavior traits like we old formerly damaged deplorables. Deplorables defined:. Those who defy the right to dismember late term fetuses beginning with the right leg then....

Pretty silly question. There are good and bad people on both sides of the spectrum. Most people want some of the same things, good economy, treated fairly, protection for our country, opportunity to be successful, freedom for worship, etc. Each person has their priorities. I don't pretend to support several of the things that Trump says or believe in, but I certainly dislike HRC positions even more. For me hot buttons are tax policy, immigration, and foreign affairs. Painting people into big buckets and calling them ignorant is pretty childish.
