True. The people chose Clinton. The system elected Trump.
In the last 2 months leading up to Nov 8th.. I did not find anyone that had chose Hillary, with the exception of a few days ago, after-the-fact, that one friend did vote for her.
Libs whining about abolishing the electoral college. They are so stupid.
If there was no electoral college, that doesn't mean Hillary would've won the popular vote. All that would've happened without an electoral college system is Trump supporters in the most populated states like California, Illinois and New York would've had a reason to vote because under an electoral system, they don't have a reason to vote.
Trump still would've won without the electoral college system. He took swing state after swing state, where everybody's vote really matters.
And he still won the White vote of all age groups by a significant margin. Hillary, as predicted, took the growing nonwhite vote in a landslide. And the nonwhite vote is growing for a reason, so they can eventually sway elections towards the Dems (which they already are).

How illegal immigrants impact the electoral college
When the government conducts the census it counts illegal immigrants and other noncitizens. This means that states like California will benefit with additional representation in the House and in the electoral college. No wonder why the left doesn't want to deport the illegals.
The article is about a year old, but it does a good job at explaining the impact that noncitizens have on our election. I like the electoral college system, but we really need to shore up our borders and deport illegal immigrants. In theory, the entire country of Mexico could be counted in the census and really skew our election.
This is like the Patriots beating the Cowboys 31 to 28 in the Super Bowl, but Commissioner Goodell decides to give the Lombardi Trophy to the Cowboys because they got more 1st Downs in the game.

Have the EC taken away then. The people who vote had nothing to do with how the president is elected. If it was the other way around, you would be laughing all the way home. In other words, you libs would be doing the same thing you did before Election Day. You all did nothing but mock Republicans for thinking their candidate had a chance against her. Just relax already and accept the results.
But in the end, did it matter? Did she get elected as your president?

If you don't want to talk about a subject because you don't think it matters then don't open threads about it. It's that simple. You are giving more importance to the popular vote than what it deserves.
Vastly misleading. Simply ignores the original reasons for the electoral college. Basically a political puff piece providing only one side of the issue. And the rationale was pure malarkey.
Face it. The EC is an anachronism that exists still because there is no practical way to get rid of it. Same with the Senate where we should have weighed voting or different senator counts.
Yeah right. It's the EXACT reason the Electoral College was put in to place. Liberals whining and boohooing about it doesn't change that fact.
None of you had one bit of an issue with it before the election. There were threads on City Data with the liberals GLOATING about how many of the ECV Hillary was going to take. Absolute gloating. So spare me the blubbering about how "unfair" it all is. We heard this same pissing and moaning when it was Gore vs Bush. Liberals need to grab some Kleenex and wipe that cry snot off of their faces, take some deep breaths, run a cold wash cloth over their faces, and accept reality.
