Pipe dream.
Also, 1/3 of the nation's welfare recipients live in CA.

Should they secede, they will have to pay for those welfare recipients with no help from the 49 other states. Good luck with that!

Another good thing---all the illegals will flock to CA because they know CA rolls out the welcome mat for them. Good! Let them pay for all those illegals with no help from the 49 other states.

Silicon Valley investors call for California to secede from the US after Trump win

Hyperloop co-founder said he would fund ‘Calexit’ campaign for Democratic state to become its own nation as tech industry has been at odds with Trump

The broader west coast is a stronghold for the Democrats, and significantly more politically progressive and racially diverse than large swathes of central US. California is also the biggest economy in the US and the sixth largest in the world with a gross state product of $2.496tn for 2015, according to the IMF.

The campaign for independence – variously dubbed Calexit, Califrexit and Caleavefornia – has been regarded as a fringe movement. But support was revitalized by influential Uber investor and Hyperloop co-founder Shervin Pishevar, in a series of tweets announcing his plans to fund a “legitimate campaign for California to become its own nation” – posted even before the full results were in.

Just looking at the state's taxes paid to DC, it's economically very feasible.

I may be a Trump fan, but forget all you people all dissing California. Even though we have liberals that live in an echo chamber and think the whole world thinks like them (and I'm socially liberal but damn some folks are delusional out here), CA definitely kicks ass. It's a great state with many issues, but still a great place to live. Trump is gonna make it better.

Why should anyone's diet change? International trade exists.

Many sources state that tax to benefit ratio in Cali hovers around 1:1.
I've always wanted to see just what would happen if you cut the benefits and make them deal across all borders as international traders.

A state with the capital of California could be supporting a massive amount of the nation or building a surplus, not just limping itself along.
