The stock market tanking was one of the biggest fake news the mainstream media tried to fear mongering their viewers with.

Brexit was also SUPPOSE to cause a tanking stock market and proved to be a fake message of fear mongering.

Investor will love Trump

You are right. They see how he is lining his cabinet with Wall Streeters and corporate raiders. Now that they have one of their own in the WH, it will be bar the doors, Katy! Large corporations will be running the country !

This is just a short term upsurge. Let's see how it is a year or so down the road. Bet things won't be so rosy then.........especially for the little guy.

Irrational exuberance, imo. I'm less concerned about the short term speculative market change versus the long term changes that his presidency will bring.

Right now who knows that Trump will do?

He's backtracked or changed his stance on so many of his campaign promises (appeal and replace Obamacare, Dreamer immigration deportation, lock her up, climate change, his business blind trust, Drain the Swamp (yet hires Goldman Sach's executive and Exxon Mobil CEO to cabinet).

He plans on spending trillions on infrastructure, on Defense, uprooting education, who knows what he plans on healthcare all while providing tax cuts?

Anyone making long term investment decisions right now is NUTS!

As I said, all a crap shoot.

I actually agree with the OP that prior to the election you had several news outlets featuring commentators predicting dire stock market results if Donald John Trump won. It did not happen.

Of course, the proof of the pudding is in the eating, as they say. We shall all be interested in how things evolve once he actually takes office and his policies (whatever they may turn out to be) are implemented.

I, of course, hope that the market holds steady and continues to improve, as it has for the past few years. If Mr. Trump's policies can keep the market stable (for there will always be ups and downs), that would be a 'win' for him.

So do agree with OP that this is "fake news" when analyst provide their expert opinions about might occur and they might be wrong in their analysis?

I don't. This isn't FAKE NEWS. (An example of fake news might be that a candidate has Parkinsons' Disease).

I also think it's way too early to conclude that the market will continue to surge when he hasn't even taken office or implemented any of his campaign promises. Lets see what he does with health care, immigration, trade, minimum wage, and environment protection and see how the economy/markets react.

The fake news also told us that Trump would "Nuke the World".. Well he isn't in a position to do that yet but why would he? It would be bad for business.

Lies lies and more lies.
What is it with politicians that appeal to our feelings and fears over our intelligence.
Imagine a politician that actually ran on a platform and stuck to the high ground?

Trump is a gamble on Americas future but Hillary was a sure thing to carry her corruption to the WH.

I suggest you check the market. It is starting to look like 2006-7 again. Dow being driven by only a limited number of stocks. Rest of market going down.

Nutty Don bubble will be short lived. When it hits 20000 expect 5-10% selloff.

We have a 95 year old Mother who depends on dividends and income from a stock portfolio that Dad worked on for years to provide for her. She was in a total panic when Trump won the Election - we make every effort to not discuss politics with family members. The Liberals outnumber the Conservatives and all the Liberals are women with Mom's ear - they DO preach to her constantly.

So - in her panic, she wanted to liquidate. We assured her "Mom, the market is going UP, not down. Everything is fine, it fact it will probably get better." All this "false prediction based on Political Agenda" can have real life consequences. Turns out that Dad was smart enough as he got older to have his son (with 3 degrees including an MBA) receive his monthly statement from his brokerage to help keep an eye on things.

Dad's foresight and early intervention on our part will keep her on an even keel despite the biased news she watches/reads/hears from her Hysterical Meltdown female relatives.

Lol. It wasn't a fake news story like the lies you believe. It was a projection. One that factored in his policies that haven't happened yet. Watch the interest rate jump today. It isn't because of Trumps Corporate overlord policy.
