Where is the outrage about the sore losers in NC? The Republican Governor there was slow to concede the election and now he and his party have brazenly taken away much of the governor's power just in time for the incoming Democrat Governor. The GOP dominated legislature ostensibly held a "special unplanned" session this past week to approve disaster relief for Hurricane Matthew victims. After quickly taking care of that, they got down to the real intent of the session - limiting the power of the incoming opposition party governor. Outgoing Republican Gov. Pat McCrory has begun to quickly sign the bills into law.

Fair enough question, though at least McCrory has conceded at this point. It took him a month, but he did it. It's not quite on the same level. No Republicans in the streets blocking traffic, rioting, breaking stuff, screaming "Not my governor!!" or dragging people from their cars and beating them up for voting Cooper. No angry tear-stained rants on youtube about McCrory's loss. There haven't been calls to assassinate Roy Cooper (the winner in that race) or to rape his wife Kristin Cooper. Nobody that I know of has threatened to leave NC because Cooper won -- and that's just threatening to leave a state, not the entire country. There haven't been accusations of hackers stealing the election from McCrory. McCrory has taken no other steps to try and steal the election. The margin was about 10,000 so it is a fair question why a recount was called for. It's too big a margin for a recount to have much chance at changing.

Oh there is plenty of outrage in North Carolina. A bunch of sleazy, cowardly legislators pull a fast one and people did notice.

This is so typical of the power-grabbing right wing. If you cannot win fairly -- change the rules.

The North Carolina GOP appears to truly admire Putin as it is acting exactly as he would.

More arrests in North Carolina legislature protests

Didn't you already answer your question in the other topic on exactly the same thing?

So why ask now?

Of course those of us who live in NC do not agree with you on this.

McCrony established what a hypocritical putz he was early in his term. He quickly gave his caninet members raises while telling everyone else they'd have to tighten their belts and was prepared to spend a substantial amount of $$$ to redo the private portion of the Governor's Mansion before someone apparently slapped some sense into him.

Good riddance Pat, we're not gonna miss ya!

Wasn't he the guy at the center of the controversy about where transgenders can or can't take a leak? Always found that thing to be particularly stupid.

This is the result of racial and racist gerrymandering that draws districts with the express purpose of diluting the power of minorities and moderate whites so as to allow the conservative minority to run roughshod over the majority. In other words it is what has allowed for the creation of an engineered "supermajority" which allows this naked power grab to take place in the first place.

I am sure that Cooper and the courts will eventually unravel this mess in order to allow the duly elected Democratic Governor of NC to actually govern, and hopefully return NC, to a State that is not the laughing stock of the Nation.

I for one would not spend a dime in this State and encourage all people who believe in fairness and sanity to do the same.

As I read this article, it sounded a lot like the NC GOP...which speaks volumes about where we are as a society.

Democrats never do this stuff, but it's standard practice for GOP state governments across the country. Seize power for themselves, while decreasing transparency and accountability.

Both parties do this sort of crap. I believe it was the Democrats who significantly diminished the power of the filibuster in the US Senate. That's about to backfire on them. I expect that the NC Republicans will experience something similar and fall into the trap they set for the other guys.
