He *might* have won. He still would have had Obama's actions dragging him down in places like Philly and Detroit which is where all of this turned.

Would it have been as pronounced as it was with Hillary? I can't say.

Yeah, the DNC fell into the same trap which had cost the GOP in the past by running candidates by merit because "it was their time" (I.e. Dole, McCain, Romney etc). Biden deferred to convention, Bernie didn't and he was railroaded. If it were the reigning VP in the race against Hillary, I doubt Wasserman-Schultz and her ilk would've done what they did.

Philly and Detroit stayed Democrat, fwiw. It was the rural areas which didn't. And Joe's from Scranton; he knows how to talk to them.

Yes, he might have won. But since he either didn't care enough about it to run, or he allowed himself to be pushed aside by Obama and HRC, he is now irrelevant and his statement comes off poorly.
