Source: Kasich, Hickenlooper consider unity presidential ticket in 2020 - CNNPolitics

Quote:
Ohio Gov. John Kasich and Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper have entertained the idea of forming a unity presidential ticket to run for the White House in 2020, a source involved the discussions tells CNN.

Under this scenario, Kasich, a Republican, and Hickenlooper, a Democrat, would run as independents with Kasich at the top of the ticket, said the source, who cautioned it has only been casually talked about.

"What they are trying to show the country is that honorable people can disagree, but you can still problem solve together. It happens in businesses and it happens in families. Why can't it happen in Washington?"
That would be very interesting. Actually a welcome change from the far fringes that seem to have enveloped both parties. Assume 35% on each side, leaves 30% in the middle. They'd have to have a very convincing platform to pull it off, but it would be welcome.

They could pick off the Mountain states, maybe some of the blue wall states, but they'd have to pick up coastal states to do it. I doubt southern states would support them, sans NC. Even though Hickenlooper is a successful entrepreneur and carries a 61% approval in CO as Gov., he still has the 'D', by his name- and for some that is all they need to know in order to despise him.

I'd vote for them. But it would be tough to pull off.

They'd have to start the platform now to garner support.

The likelihood of low information voters on either side knowing that Kasich or Hickenlooper were affiliated with any party not high.

I like Kasich, don't know about Hickenlooper though. Kasich was my favorite Republican candidate for president and my second favorite candidate overall. I was ...
Bernie Sanders
John Kasich
Hillary Clinton
Ron Paul
Jeb Bush

Which one on top, which one on the bottom?

Republican on top or the Democrat?

Would this confuse, or confuse?
