Bill Richardson was my first choice for president and I was disappointed that he didn't get more support in the early primaries. I'd very much like to see him as the VP candidate, but I doubt that will happen. I feel that the DNC won't want a "double minority" ticket. More than likely, the VP slot will be filled by a southern white male with solid military experience. The name I've heard mentioned is Jim Webb, who fits the profile very nicely. Former Marine, Vietnam vet, Naval Academy grad, former Secretary of the Navy under Reagan, and a moderate Democrat who happens to be a former Republican.

But, what the heck do I know?

I'll say this - if Bill Richardson isn't Obama's VP, he may very well end up in a cabinet post. I think he'd be an outstanding Secretary of State. He has a lot of experience negotiating with other governments.

Obama does not want Gore or Clinton (both) as close as the VP chair. Richardson looks like a fair choice, but he'll have to ditch the beard . . .

I agree. I think a southern white male with military experience would really give him an edge.

I heard contrary information on Al Gore and his relationship to the Clintons. I have heard he is not as close as people would assume. Here's a quote from an old NY Times article..

Mr. Clinton and Mr. Gore’s relationship has been strained since the 2000 campaign, with Mr. Gore’s associates attributing many of his campaign troubles to the Monica Lewinsky affair. Mr. Clinton’s camp complained Mr. Gore did not use Mr. Clinton more to highlight the administration’s successes.

I think if he felt any type of loyalty to the Clintons, he would have endorsed Hillary from the very beginning but you never know. I also keep hearing about this Edwards endorsement for Hillary but I think they are all just waiting to see how things get played out in the comings months ahead.

Hill and Tipper hated each other from day 1. Bill and Al were cordial because they had to be. Al blames Bill for losing the election. I don't think they've spoken about each other or have appeared together in years.
