Not happening. Not with the power of incumbency (no matter how short) and with the expected increased (and normal) GOP turnout at a normal general election cycle. This was the Dems' best and only real chance to take the district.

Agree....the seat stays GOP, easily in November. The Dems really needed to get it now. So sad

I don't think Kasich will be campaigning for the Democrat - he actually supports the Republican.
Kasich wants to run for President in 2020 - he is going to have a hard time doing that if he supports a Democrat for this house seat.

It's just that Kasich is unhinged when it comes to Donald Trump - he is among the Top 3 Anti-Trump Republicans in the USA ..... it's a lot of negativity he tosses around and that sort of thing keeps folks at home in a Mid-Term or Special Election. Kasich is about Kascish, he will never be a Team Player.
Politics is a Team Sport.

Looks like most of you don't understand that this race is still a Toss-Up.

There are 3,000+ provisional ballots that will have to be checked out (astounding number)
There are 5,000 or so Absentee (mail in) Ballots out - they have to be post marked by Aug 6 (yesterday) and the law says they have to give them time to travel through the mail - in this case until 8/11/18. They should know the results around the 18th, but the Election won't be Certified until 8/24/18.

that depends on what you define as a normal GOP midterm turnout.

that could mean 116,000 votes or it could mean 150,000

The problem for Republicans is that Democrats can pull out 150,000 votes in this district as well. The mid terms are going to be a turnout game.

Kasich is going to try to run as a "middle American"

While both Dems and Republicans continue to attack free trade, Kasich is going to run right up the middle, enough to (if he chooses to) take the midwest in a primary and deny Donald Trump the nomination.

Or he could run for President as an Independent and deny the presidency all together.

Kasich did that last time and failed. I don't see how that changes in 2020.

Provisional & absentee ballots in this district trend GOP.....so it's basically over & that's why people who understand the voting history of the area are calling it for the GOP.

Kasich is eaten away with envy over Trump & the public noticed. He's a nothing and is going to have no impact in 2020. The idiot Kasich only won Ohio in 2016...he lost every midwest state to Trump. He has no chance.

Kasich did that last time and got 4 million votes including winning Ohio. What happens when he rolls up to Iowa, Nebraska, The Dakotas, Missouri and Wisconsin with a banner that says

"Paychecks not bailouts " ?

You honestly think he wont improve his numbers ?

Interesting that you feel that way about politics being a team sport and Kasich not being a team player and his being about himself. Do you feel that way about Trump?
