It's interesting that many media outlets today are leading with stories that "Obama can't close the deal." Over at the Hillary Clinton campaign website (masquerading as a newsmagazine) Salon.com, for example, their Washington Bureau Chief, Walter Shapiro has the cover story, unoriginally headlined "Obama can't close the deal." But this is not a real "news" headline. It's just Clinton campaign spin, a Howard Wolfson talking point designed to deflect attention away from the truth. Because the one who can't close the deal has been, and continues to be Hillary Clinton.

It's beginning to look like neither Obama nor Clinton can seal the deal.

You are absolutely right. Neither one can. I think that the media says that about Obama because he is expected to win the nomination and Hillary is not. I think people read too much into it.

The thing is, Obama is outspending Hillary by more than 2-1, blanketing the areas with ads, mailings, and coverage. THAT is the point -- to spend that amount of money and to have a very slick organization while STILL coming up short means he's got a real problem. What could it be? Gee, maybe those blue collar, rural, and "ignorant" people he and his campaign insulted?

Or maybe it's that last debate where Obama showed how little he knows about our economy? The man is not ready to be our president. Back in 2005 he said that he wouldn't run for president in 2008 because he wouldn't be ready yet... he should have listened to himself.

Well, Ed Rendell said it all. There are some conservative whites in the state of PA that are not ready to vote for a black president. Too bad it's gonna be his job come this fall to tell those conservative whites whom they ought to be voting.
