Great, Obama filled a few sandbags, as if they had a shortage of folks able to do that. What this area needs -- now and in the longterm -- is FEMA and other fed. relief. Their crops are ruined and the folks are going to be hurtin' for a long while. Our food prices are going to go way up, too. Wonder if Obama has given these things much thought?
You forget Obamaton, McCain has limited range of motion in his arms/shoulders - the torture thing.
Nice photo-op for Obama. Another transparent political gimmick.
I can't believe I'm agreeing with sanrene, but the fact is, you can't reasonably expect a man of McCain's age and condition to be filling sandbags.
As far as Obama filling sandbags being a political gimmick?
Yeah, you can make that claim.
Of course that's true of pretty much ANYTHING a politician does in public to show they care (including Bush's trip to areas ravaged by Katrina etc).
Doesn't mean it doesn't have some value - by increasing national attention on the situation if nothing else.
To mangle a Fark headline. McCain prayed for the people hurt by the flood. God answered his prayers and sent Barack Obama down there to help out. So really, it was McCain who should be getting the credit for Obama showing up.

Yup, all that rebuilding from the Hurricane is going to get done for free isn't it? Rebuilding all that infrastructure and those homes is going to happen magically at ZERO cost to the government
YOU personally are going to go down there and take care of it on your own, out of your own pocket so the American taxpayers don't have to worry about it.
Sorry to disappoint you, but disasters cost money - that's part of what makes them disasters. If you don't like it, take it up with God.
