More then double the fundraising of McCain and yet he is clueless about money!

It's not an easy decision, and especially because I support a robust system of public financing of elections," Obama wrote. "But the public financing of presidential elections as it exists today is broken, and we face opponents who've become masters at gaming this broken system."

Obama repeatedly broke campaign fundraising records during the Democratic primary season. Since January 2007, he has raised more than $272 million.

Sen. John McCain, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, raised less than half that amount, roughly $100 million, over the same period.

I guess McCain does need government assistance.
For heaven sakes, people need to learn the difference between how Democrats and Republicans raise funds.

Republicans raise funds on a committee level
Democrats raise funds on a candidate level

While Obama has more cash then McCain, the RNC has 6 times the amount of cash then the DNC. In fact the DNC is about $11M in the hole to hold their own convention.

Comparing the fund raising ability of Obama and McCain without adding in the funds for the RNC and DNC is not accurate.

Gotta love it..in that little speech he acuses McCain of using PACs to fund his campaign. 9% of Obama's funding comes from PACs....More change that I can't believe in.

Will this guy keep any of his promises if he is elected the president? The obfuscating by the Obama followers and his campaign is puzzling. Is this the change we were promised? Thank god I did not buy into this change.

Vote McCain

yeah, good move. way to go back on your word and lie. wonder what else he lied about.

I see that integrity does not mean much for you. God help this country if Obama is elected.

In case you are out of touch with reality, campaigns are about winning first.

How many flip flops has McCain had? I bet you that he will have many more. Its all about getting elected for McCain and nothing more.

Though this may be the reality, I personally don't feel that it should be in this manner. Winning isn't everything. And personally, I think I'd rather have a candidate who would keep their promises vice breaking the inconvenient ones.

Sad enough, neither frontline candidate fits the bill.

McCain has "flip-flopped," for the most part, because the real worl situation has changed.

I a recession, getting rid of the tax cuts would crush the economy - so he "flip-flopped" on the Bush tax cuts.

Gas is up over $4/gallon. We have found the price-point where Americans are changing their habist. Allowing gas prices to continue to move up to $5,6,7,8 per gallon would not help anymore in moving us towards alternative energies and would just hurt the economy so he "flip-flopped" on drilling.

Obama pledged to use public funds as a matter of principal. Using private funds is the wrong way to do business. That fact hasn't changed - the only thing that has changed is Obama's situation. He has "flip-flopped" on public funding for his own personal gain.
