John McCain, born in Panama, may not be eligible to be President.
In order to be President of the U.S., you must be more than just a citizen, you must be a "natural-born" citizen. Does McCain meet the criteria? Experts disagree.
This was something I questioned as I had always thought I was unable due to being born in Germany (father was in the Air Force) Here is what the rule is
Only native-born U.S. citizens (or those born abroad, but only to parents who were both citizens of the U.S.) may be president of the United States, though from time to time that requirement is called into question, most recently after Arnold Schwarzenegger, born in Austria, was elected governor of California, in 2003. The Constitution originally provided a small loophole to this provision: One needn't have been born in the United States but had to be a citizen at the time the Constitution was adopted. But, since that occurred in 1789, that ship has sailed.
So in fact McSame is eligible... where or not he is a good choice is another question.
The Panama Canal Zone was a US territory from 1903 until the 1999 handover of the Canal to Panama with a Chinese company owning the actual canal area.
All persons born in the Panama Canal Zone have US citizenship.
His citizenship is not in question. His eligibility for POTUS is - specifically the requirement of being a "natural-born citizen." It's a different standard than just regular citizenship.

Great input. There are some Constitutional experts who disagree with the final analysis, however.
I am sure all these investigators in city data know much more than the washington insiders. I think this would have been figured out before they nominated him. you people are coo coo.
They're wasting their time on this one. McCain is a US Citizen, born to US Citizens on a US military base, which is the same as being born on US soil. Gov. Schwarzenegger is a different situation altogether, he is NOT a natural born citizen and will never be eligible to run for President, unless the Constitution of the United States is amended. I like the Gov, but I would never support the change to allow non-US born citizens to run for office. Of course, considering our current choices, I could be convinced to change my mind.
Yes I think he was born in Fort Sherman which was a USA base by the canal
Actually it was Coco Solo.
Fort Sherman was an army base, not a navy base.
