Senator McCain supports extended stays in the military and the troops paying for benefits and services out of pocket.

"Senator McCain might not have voted, but he has made his views perfectly clear. Instead of joining the 75 senators from both parties who voted for the bill and just about every major veterans group--all of which supported it--Senator McCain chose to echo the Bush Administration's opposition. Senator McCain claimed the bill would provide too much incentive for the brave men and women who volunteered to serve after 9/11 to leave the armed forces, even though a Congressional Budget Office study found that the bill's impact on retention would be offset by a matching increase in recruitment. Senator McCain offered a watered down version of the bill that would have offered a reduced benefit and required many veterans to pay out of their own pockets to receive it."

Wow, what pork barrel was attached to this bill that they would vote for it.

OBAMA VOTED AGAINST FUNDING OUR TROOPS, big difference, when they needed more money to get more armor, Obama voted against it.

Wald, I am NOT talking about the GI Bill at all, that is not what Biden was referring to when he said this.

When Kerry was against money for Iraq, it was because there was substantial pork in the bill. I guess as long as it's MILITARY pork it's thumbs up .

What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

What a bunch of liberal RINO neo-con tools.

Why would McCain want kids to pay their own health benefits if they are serving our great nation?

So why didn't the military have the armor before this war started instead of waiting for it. Can McCain answer this?

You should ask the troops and vets what THEY think of McCain. As one brave soldeir I know told me; "If you vote for him I'll be thinking of that when I'm in a foxhole."

You certainly know better than I, what he was referring to. Do you have a Bill number? I'd love to address the correct Bill he was referring to.....in the meantime I can only assume it was Senator McCain's most recent failure to support our troops, unless you have another you'd like to discuss.

"McCain not only would not vote for the measure, he went a step further and refused to show the courage or moral surety to even show his face on the floor of the Senate at the time of the vote to make his voice heard on the issue. Oh yes, this is a problem for McCain, one that will likely dog him all the way through election day."

Funny how the right wingers on here make threads about all the hate coming from the left. They don't consider threads like this calling the future vice president hateful.
