The fact is, regardless of what you will hear over the next few days, Bristol's pregnancy is not a legitimate political issue. Sarah Palin is a longterm member of a group called Feminists for Life, which is not opposed to birth control. So you probably can't tag her for consigning young people to unwanted pregnancies.
You can argue that it was hamhanded of the McCain campaign—they had to have known, right?—to somehow let this drop just a few days after the announcement. Pregnancy does show, and it does have a ticking clock. The story was going to come out eventually.
Hmmm. You mean, she's NOT a radical wing-nut? Who knew?
If everybody knew of this secret, you can be sure the McCain camp did as well.
Gosh, he's got some big brass ones, doesn't he? Unlike bambi, whose marbles are in the Meeshell lockbox.

Yes, it take brass knuckles to hide under the safety and security of a federal job all his life and adopting flip flopping over a once highly regarded stance as 'maverick'.
He certainly played the maverick with his pick. Pandering to snake charmers and liberal warmongers.
There is NOTHING MORE maverick in this pick of Palin. Great risk or great reward. Come on - you have to at least admire the man for that? Not many politicians would have taken the risk, especially when he really didn't have to. Basically tied in the polls, close election. He really shook it up as well as the talking heads of the media.
In one weekend he has managed to get the base firmly behind him.
What is Feminists for Life's position on contraception?
Feminists for Life's mission is to address the unmet needs of women who are pregnant or parenting. Preconception issues including abstinence and contraception are outside of our mission. Some FFL members and supporters support the use of non-abortifacient contraception while others oppose contraception for a variety of reasons. FFL is concerned that certain forms of contraception have had adverse health effects on women.
Who really cares? People are going to use contraceptives if they want to. That is a non-issue.
The real issue is the abortion one - and what a contrast you will see between Palin - who birthed a down baby - and obama, who would leave babies to die on a shelf.
Can you picture the coming ad? Playing in MI,OH,PA,IN,VA,WI

I care, when birth control pills are defined as abortion.

It's chancy. Not maverick. Chancy. The snake charmers think Romney is damned to hell b/c of the book of Mormon. Pawlenty is well, a dude (no offense to him ).
Maverick is choosing Lieberman, an Independent and former Democrat.
I would never admire a lifetime federal employee. They are the parasites of the world, leeching off taxpayers with their career politician rhetoric. Unfortunately, Palin is little improvement given her total inexperience. You need some but not too much DC type experience as well as a leadership role.
Regardless of what you think, I am active in the conservative base in a highly contested congressional district and support the Republican against the establishment Dem incumbent. VERY few/None of my inner circle volunteers like McCain or plan on voting for him (a few hundred). It's also NC, a somewhat swing state not locked up by either party.

Except that she wasn't his pick- it's already been widely reported that he wanted either Liebermann or Ridge, but was pushed by his wranglers to select Palin. How can selecting someone you'd only met once possibly be a smart move? It's a "maverick" move if you define "maverick" as "being careless in your decisions and hoping for the best"- not exactly a quality that's high on my list for potential Presidency candidates.
