Over the opposition of oil companies, Republican Gov. Sarah Palin and Alaska's Legislature last year approved a major increase in taxes on the oil industry — a step that has generated stunning new wealth for the state as oil prices soared.

This is awfully similar, no exactly like what Obama has proposed.

Maybe you should attempt to get a clue before wasting our time with your post. The existing tax structure had been put in place by the previous corrupt repuplican incumbant governor, paid off with bribes and favors from the major oil producers to state legislators. Palin enacted a fair tax structure that represented the wishes of Alaska citizens and recognized the non-Renewable nature of Alaska's natural resources.

This is the reform to which McCain referenced when he picked her.

Palin couldn't even recognize the non-renewable nature of Alaska's resources in her speech tonight. She said "America should produce more oil and [natural] gas."

Tell me how we can produce fossil fuels?

And on a side note, how can fossil fuels even exist when the earth is only 5,000 years old?

It is also a sliding scale tax designed to reward the oil companies for keeping the price low. The higher the price they charge, the larger the tax. Not too mention, she gave the windfall back to the people! Maybe Obama stole the plan from her? He only proposed it, she implemented it, and did so fairly to both the company and the consumer.
